  On January 7, 2022 I made an appointment to get my oil changed. From the time the service technician took my vehicle in the shop. It only took less than 30 minutes for them to so call complete the oil change. I paid for that. So when I got home. I checked my oil and the oil looked dirty. I called them out on the dirty oil and they said it was changed. The next day I took it to another place to get my oil checked and change. The oil is now clean like it should be. I loss money on that dirty oil change. From four states tire in Cortez, Co..

  I have reviewed complaint ********.  Four States Tire & Service responds as follows:
  
  ********* ****** brought in her 2021 Chevrolet Equinox (*** *****************; License Plate ******) in for an oil change on 1/7/2022.  The vehicle odometer reading was 16,031 upon arrival.
  
  She arrived at late for her 1pm appointment.  Her invoice was opened at 1:41pm.
  
  Due to her late arrival and a heavy oil change appointment schedule, 2 techs were assigned to complete her oil change in order to not get behind for subsequent appointments that day.
  
  The oil change was completed with 5.3 quarts of Kendal Full Synthetic Oil and a new Mighty M9509 oil filter.  Due to a new Point-of-Sale system error, ********* ****** was charged $31.99 + tax for an oil change that should have been $59.99 + tax.  That was our mistake at the point of invoicing, but did not have any bearing on the fact that the oil change was completed properly.
  
  The invoice was closed out at 2:18pm, 36 minutes after it started.  This is around 9 minutes faster than our average Oil Change completion due to the fact that the vehicle is very new and did not justify the full inspection we generally complete as well as the fact that we had 2 techs working on it.
  
  While this vehicle is low mileage, all gas burning engines deposit carbon throughout the engine due to heat and combustion.  These carbon deposits are picked up by fresh oil immediately upon running the engine.  This is why regular oil change intervals are very important for the longevity of the engines, and additional internal engine cleaning should be done periodically.  ********* ****** drove her vehicle 61+ miles from Cortez Colorado to Montezuma Creek Utah before checking the oil after our oil change.  That is more than enough run time and mileage for the fresh engine oil to darken slightly.  If the oil was changed again, and then checked again without runtime or miles driven it will, no-doubt, appear differently.
  
  While Four States Tire & Service is very certain that the oil in ********* ******’s vehicle was changed on 1/7/22, we do not want a simple oil change to damage our reputation.  We would not be a successful business after 35+ years of operation if we took advantage of customers on any service, let alone an oil change.  With that in-mind, I am willing to offer an in-house credit for the amount of $60.00 that will cover the full cost of a future oil change on the same vehicle. 
  
  We appreciate the ongoing business that ********* ****** has done with us and we look forward to continuing to serve her in the future.  The in-house credit will be posted to her account for future use upon sending this email.

  To: Better Business Bureau,
  
  I have rejected the response from Four States Tire & Service. I have a couple of corrections in my part of the response. I was early for my appointment for an oil change on 1-7-2022, Their were 3 men behind the counter. Trying to figure out the computer. So-I was not checked in at the time I arrived 12:55 p.m. While I waited I finally got checked in at another desk in a office after 1:00 p.m. I was never late for my appointment. The full price + Tax. I paid $46.40. Their is only one name on the line where it says tech. From Cortez, CO to my House is 32 miles. It is not 61+ miles to Montezuma Creek, Utah. Montezuma Creek is my PO Box mailing address. I will not be doing business with Four States Tire & Service ever again. I do not feel comfortable going back to Four States Tire.
