My car was towed for backing into a spot on the fence line in our apartment complex. There are no posted signs saying that this will result in a tow. I have attached the only signage posted on the fence line. Two days prior I received a warning taped to my window saying that my car was backed in to fence, which I read as they thought I hit the fence or that I was too close to the fence. So the next day I parked a good distance away from the fence but I still backed into the spot because I didn't think I couldn't back in. The next morning my car was towed by them. Unclear signage and postings gave them the "authority" to tow my car. Additionally, when I called to see how much it would be to get my car back, they told me $247.50. Their building is 1.8 miles from my apartment complex. I believe for an overnight tow that is above what I should be paying to them. This business is performing predatory towing.Business response

This vehicle was towed for a parking violation. This property does not allow vehicles to back up and park with the rear of their vehicles on a section of wooden fence line. The reason for this is that vehicles have been backing into the parking spaces and damaging the neighboring properties fence. There is several signs posted in English and Spanish that state "NO REAR PARKING, Vehicles will be towed at owners expense". There are also signs for our two company with our information informing that parking violations will be towed by our company. This vehicle was backed into a parking space on the fence and was stickered with a large neon green sticker that in bold lettering states WARNING with a picture of a car being towed, the violation was on the sticker so the vehicle owner could correct the violation and NOT be towed. There is also information at the bottom of the sticker letting the vehicle owner know when the vehicle will be towed if the violation is not corrected. There is no expense for the vehicle owner at this point. It is a warning to correct the violation. The warning is a sticker (not taped) that was put on the drivers side window of the vehicle and had to be removed. The stickers do not come off due to weather and are sometimes difficult to remove. All signage is clear and the residents at this property rarely violate parking backed into a space on the fence line parking spaces. When they are warned they correct this issue quickly and usually they do not have a result of having their vehicle towed. They simply do not back up to park in these parking spaces. This vehicle owner did not correct the parking violation and was towed. The cost of a tow in ****** ******** is set by a government agency. We do not set the fees for towing in ********. We charge based on the fees set by the *****************. This vehicle owner was issued a warning and could have easily avoided the cost and inconvenience of having his vehicle towed by correcting the violation. If he was not sure or had questions about signage or the warning on his vehicle, our phone number is on signs at every entrance and through out the property. We are available 24 hours a day for questions. He also could have spoken to his property manager with any questions or concerns. These options are free.
We decline the allegation of predatory towing. The term predatory towing refers to tow service providers who use illegal or unethical methods to maximize their profits. We do not perform with the use of illegal or unethical methods for any reason.

We are always available and we work with residents to avoid them having to experience any inconvenience and cost of having their vehicle towed. We also do perform towing services for properties to ensure residents are able to have safe available parking for their own vehicles. Violations are towed according to that specific properties parking rules.

My vehicle was towed a week ago. I’ve been calling and leaving messages in hopes of getting personal emergency items out of the vehicle and to no avail I have not heard back from the company. I know cars only sit for so long before they are sold to auction and I would like my items out of the car.
