Me and my wife purchased insurance policies for our house and automobiles from this company. I was not the named person on the insurance policy because the money was coming from my wifes bank account and they were set up on automatic recurring payments. When we went to go purchase an umbrella policy They decided that policy alone would not be on automatic payments, and they decided to name me to the collection agent they sent me to when the payment obviously didnt get in and their only excuse was that they had sent the bill and we shouldve paid it. The only trouble with that is they named me to the debt collection agency. I am not the name person on the insurance policy which means I did not purchase anything from them. This would also mean that they defraud me and the debt collection agency by trying to charge me for some thing I never purchased from them based on a mistake, they refuse to acknowledge. When we received the bill after the collection notice of course our new **** suddenly had my name right up front in front of my wifes name. Please remember I am not the technical owner of this policy.Every single change we have had to make has been extremely difficult first to get anybody on the phone to make the policy change and second to get them to make the correct changes and now I owe a debt collector for something I never purchased.Business response

I had an insurance review scheduled for ***** and below is a copy of the sent email that was attached to notes from that review 4/20/2023. During the review, I noticed that ********* was not a named insured on the home that was written by someone else back in 2021, so I had the discussion with them and per their request, I added him to the policy.
After the umbrella was active and all the changes to the autos were completed, I followed up with an email on the changes to billing accounts (email in note below from 5/1/2023).
********* then received a text on 5/27/2023 from the corporate office about his umbrella being past due.
From our billing department he also received billing statements for Bill due, past due, cancelation notice and canceled policy status)
**** spoke to ********* on 6/19/2023 about the umbrella canceling for non payment and he told her that he would have his wife call back to make the payment and then reinstate the policy.
********* & ***** called on 8/28/2023 about the collection notice. ********* stated that they had requested to cancel the policy, even though we have no notes for that request. We do have a note that ********* told **** his wife would call back to pay and reinstate the policy. ***** then proceeded to make the payment and eform was sent to reinstate policy.
