I am not happy with this company! Our furnace went out and we called to get someone to come and look at it. They were suppose to be out between 10 and 12 and at 12:30 I had to call to see when they were coming. Was told that they were running a little late and would soon be there. It was close to 2 before they got here. I was scheduled to leave at 2 for a trip out of town, so was in a hurry when they came. I was told that it would be better to replace our 25 year old furnace than to repair it. They told me that it would cost between $8,000 and ****** to replace it. I couldn't leave the family without heat in October so I let them schedule a repair. They came out the next day and tried to replace the furnace. They kept blowing their transformer in the unit. Tried to tell us that we needed an electrician to fix "our" electrical problem. They left with no running furnace. We cancelled them the next day, since they couldn't replace the furnace. We had another company come and replace the furnace without having to do any electrical work. The company that replaced the furnace did so for half the cost of theirs. We have not been able to have them come and get their defective unit. They also tried to reinstate the loan application that we had cancelled.Review from Kenneth B

I found ones experience with *** Vigil depends on which service tech you get. This past spring the air conditioner tune-up tech was great. Professional, personable, efficient. He explained the results of his work concisely and clearly. With no push for add-on services. Nice and neat. Five stars. This falls furnace tune-up tech was a much different story. Once finished with his work, he initially said my furnace, which is a little over a decade old, is in pretty good shape. But then he listed a number of what he said were needed fixes, all of which he described in indecipherable technical jargon. He hand-scribbled 5 different options I could consider, identified only by the quickie names he gave them. These ranged from a Band Aid fix at $1,200 to a Best of the Best system replacement at $35,000. (A $35K system for a single-level 1300-sq.ft. house? Seriously?) His in-between options for fixes were priced at $3,600, $12,000, and $20,000. Hmmm, seemed like a lot for a pretty good shape furnace. I asked what warranty would cover any of the 5 proposed work products. Only the $35,000 option, he said. I told him the obvious: At these costs I would at least want to get a second opinion. He scoffed at this, said it was not necessary, then badgered me with classic hard-sell tactics, up to and including a whine of Dont you trust me? (Frankly, no.) With my patience drained, I finally asked: Can you put together a clear written description of what each of your proposed options entails, with language I can understand, and email that to me so I can make an informed decision? He at first said No, he could not do that, unless and until I was serious about one option or another. Cart before horse in my book. He finally relented and said he would email me such details. That was a week ago. So far, no email. Zero stars. Not knowing whether I might get the Jekyll or Hyde tech in the future, I believe Ill just avoid *** Vigil next time.**********Review from Janine K

I received a postcard in the mail from this business advertising a *************** heater check for $60. I made an ****************** came to my house 3/14/22. They said they checked both *********************** was good & I paid for the service. On 3/27/22 there was water on my laundry room floor. My brother is a contractor & called him to see who I should call to check it out. I called the plumber he recommended & was told I needed a new water heater. Thirteen days after I was billed $60 by JD Vigil & told everything was alright. I called JD Vigil after having a new water heater installed & asked why after only 13 days after they supposedly checked it the water heater needed replaced. I was told that $60 for inspecting both appliances was a very good deal. I said it is not if they don't bother checking them & then charge you anyway. Then I was told that there is no way to check a hot water heater. So it is ok to advertise & charge you for checking it & then they admit that there is no way to check it? Sounds like a scam to me. I was forced to leave a star on this review in order to save it. It should be a negative star!Review from Pat D

Beware – “their word” means pretty close to nothing! Based on my interaction with this “J.D. Vigil Heating and AC” company – you may be wise to look elsewhere for your AC repairs or installs. They agreed to a new AC unit install with a more powerful 4-ton AC unit for $10,000.00 and said they could do it the next day. It was finally activated 9 days later because they would not complete the install unless I paid an additional $1,000.00 to get the electrical connected for the unit. I went 6 days where they would not come and complete the install nor answer my phone calls or text because I found out, and inquired as to why, they were charging me about $1,500.00 more than others in town for the same exact unit ($2,500.00 with electrical working)., Evidently, they “did not know what was needed to install a 4 ton AC unit” and the installed price did not really mean installed unless I paid an additional $1,000.00 because of their error. This is at best incompetence for an AC company not to know what is needed to install an AC unit and up the charge $1000.00 or refuse to finish the installation. The worse part of this is that they knew I had guest for 9 hot days without AC and they did not give a darn. While the actual people who installed the initial parts of the AC unit were very nice – the manager (minus the girl in the office – she was nice as well) was absolutely awful. I was so disappointed with the attitude and unwillingness to even complete the install because because I questions his pricing. I had paid them after they told me it was finished. Yeah right – later I found out it was “finished” but did not work because there was no electricity to the unit. They had the nerve to say a non-working unit was finished and grabbed my $10,000.00 and never came back. They also promised to adjust the air-flow zone system – but never did. I now need to do that by myself or hire a different company. Beware of these shady practices – “their word” means nothing!Review from My R

This company is expensive. I had a 40 dollar part that needed replacing and the technician was here for 1 hour and 5 minutes. Charge was 475.00 This was not an emergency call, but a routine one.Review from jj
