Before 2020, **** was great, but things, unfortunately, took a negative turn. Without getting into great detail, I experienced issues with **** starting in 2020. Even after the problems in 2020, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and decided to use him again in 2021; that decision I entirely regret. I filled an extension before the deadline through **** in 2021, and the *** sent me a letter saying they never received it. **** also had a miscalculation on one of my forms, so not only did I have a $454 failure-to-file penalty charge, but I also owed $1,214 because of the calculation error. I contacted ****, and he said to send him a copy of the letter to look at what happened; after sending him the letter, he completely ghosted me and he never returned any of my calls or emails.

On May 13th I received a text from the above client saying that she would not receive all of her documents necessary for filing until later in the year, she asked if she should file an extension. I suggested that we meet and prepare an estimate based on the documents that she did have in her possession so that she could send in a payment along with her extension. We met in person at my office on Sunday May 16th, she left my office with the document for the extension which suggested a **** payment, I included a stamped envelope addressed to the *** so that she could mail a check and the extension by the next day, the filing deadline for the extension. I cannot say if that envelope was ever mailed. In October, she had all of the remaining document for filing that was missing in May. We met, I asked about the economic stimulus payments that she had received in ***************************** the tax return, as it turns out it was lower than the actual amount that she received, and I did not know that before the return was submitted electronically. I rely on the accuracy of the statement from the client to prepare the return. The letter that came back from the *** indeed says that there was a calculation error, that error was because of reporting the incorrect amount of economic stimulus payments. I have offered to refund my fee of ****** since she is unhappy with the results. I have left several messages today with no reply.

Sadly, the information in Bill's response is false; a stamped envelope to file an extension with the *** was not given to me to mail out. I have filed an extension several years in a row with ****, and this has never been the protocol. I have the **** form in my folder, and right there on top, there's a note that reads, "DO NOT MAIL FILED ELECTRONICALLY" from ****. In addition, the calculation error was due to **** entering my stimulus amount in the wrong section of my form, which made it seem as if I didn't receive any stimulus money at all this was explained to me by the ***. The *** also recommended that I write them a letter stating that my intentions were not malicious because it appeared as if I were attempting to double-dip.Nonetheless, this could have been discussed and avoided altogether if **** had returned my calls and emails after notifying him of the received letter. Instead, he neglected the situation and never responded or returned my calls. Yet, he conveniently tried calling me after posting this review to go over my letter. The letter was sent to me in December, and I immediately notified ****. The charges were also due in December; it's now February, and now he wants to reach out.
