Ventura County Credit Union started in 1950, where it began operating out of the County Courthouse, just beneath a stairwell. Starting with just a few employees and one volunteer with a cash drawer, we began helping members with their financial goals. Back then our philosophy was simple: people helping people. This philosophy is no different today and we continue to strive to help members meet their financial goals every day. Today, VCCU has expanded to over $1.1 Billion in assets and more than 78,000 members with even greater expected expansion ahead.

What’s the difference between a bank and a credit union?
Whereas a bank sets out to satisfy their pool of stockholders, a credit union, like VCCU, sets out to satisfy and fulfill our members’ expectations through lower loan rates, higher interest on deposits, and lower fees altogether.
Many banks charge unnecessary fees to disburse amongst their stockholders, but we believe in disbursing these perks to you in the form of lower fees and rates. In other words, our best interest is in you, and not a pool of investors. We also educate our members on financial management so that they are able to optimize their cash flow through our education programs. We also educate children of different ages to provide them with the knowledge they need to make the right financial decisions in the future.
