We started going to Green Dental & Orthodontics for my son's orthodontia and paid in full for the 24 months of orthodontics they estimated he would need. We paid a total of $2,718 on March 9, 2023. The business had committed to providing our son orthodontics care for 24 months. We had to relocate in August 2023 to ****** from ******************* (55 miles away) and immediately let them know that we would not be able to continue with the services. We asked for a refund given that we had only been using the services for 4.5 months, not the 24 months we had paid for. We were given the run around from the employees there for several weeks and were finally told by an employee named **** that he was going to speak with HR and Bookkeeping to at least provide a refund of $950.00. Since that time we have followed up and called and tried to get in touch with them with no success. They are keeping our money for services they did not provide and we would like an immediate refund for the entire amount. Two other important points:1. As we were also asking for our money back we requested our records for the new orthodontist. This took considerable time and effort and the office staff did not understand basic terminology that is used in orthodontics for forms that are needed to transfer from one doctor to another. 2. When we went to the new orthodontist in our area we were told that the work that was done from Green Dental was not standard of care, that outdated brackets were used for the braces and that the work was not up to standards. We request a refund of $2,000 as soon as possible or legal action will need to be taken. Thank you.Business response

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your concerns. We are genuinely saddened to hear about your need to relocate, as we would have loved the opportunity to continue providing orthodontic care to your son.
We understand that discontinuing treatment midway can be challenging. However, please be aware that the orthodontic materials, including all trays, are customized and fabricated at the outset of the treatment to ensure a smooth and efficient process. These preparations involve significant costs that are incurred upfront.Given these circumstances, while it is not feasible for us to offer a full refund, we want to help find a resolution. We are prepared to honor the partial refund of $950, as initially discussed by ****. This amount takes into consideration the work already done and the costs incurred on our end. We have fabricated all the trays in advance which is normally done when doing Ortho Aligners.
Should you decide to accept this offer, we will ensure that a check is prepared and ready for you within 48 hours. We hope this proposal demonstrates our commitment to your satisfaction and our willingness to work towards a fair solution. Please let us know your decision.Initial Complaint

On December 14th 2022, I went to a dentist appointment at Green Dental & Orthodontics for an exam and x-rays. The dentist explained that there was a problem with my teeth and that I would need treatment. ****, the office manager, walked me through the costs but it was more than I could afford. **** said there would be a financial option that would work for me. He asked for my personal information while he was filling out some forms online. I thought he was only checking what the credit options would be for a person like me, an au pair who is low income with no savings or credit. He showed me the payments and interest charges. I told him that none of those options worked for me. I was feeling so overwhelmed and wanted to think about how to proceed but **** tried to push me to start the treatment that same day. I told him no and that I needed to think about the cost and what other options might be to more affordably treat my teeth. He asked me to sign what I thought was an estimate and gave me a folder to take home. When I was back home, I asked my host parents if they could help me to check the papers that **** gave me. As I feared, they confirmed that in fact the paperwork indicated I had signed for a $6,700 loan with a *****% interest rate.Immediately I sent an email to **** at Green Dental December 14 at 10:28 pm, saying that I wanted to cancel everything and didn't want to continue with any treatment. December 15th 2022, at 9:00 am, **** (my host-father) and I called the clinic told **** that I wanted to cancel the credit. The statement came from the credit agency and **** did not cancel the credit and the statement says that Green Dental received the $6,700 balance. **** is now refusing to repay any amount to the credit company or even provide me with a statement of what was done Dec. 14 and what the costs are. I have no intention of doing any of the treatments at Green Dental. I have also disputed the charges with the credit company and they are reviewing.
