SLO Subaru was recommended by family and initially this dealership seemed like a god-send. Was working with a great online car salesman who worked with my wife and me for 2.5 months as we waited for our new 2022 Outback that was in transit. When it was time to buy we weren’t able to drive away with the car we fell in love with and invested 2.5 months waiting for due to their horrible management. We were told 2.5 months ago that we would be able to have 7k in equity toward our trade in but since the outback was in transit we couldn’t write up any numbers and all forms were email and text based estimates. The outback was delayed 2-3 weeks due to transportation issues but we didn’t mind because we had our 500 deposit securing our car. Get informed 1/20/2022 that the car would arrive on 1/21/2022 but my wife and I live 2.5 hours away so we opted to go pick it up today 1/22/2022. We get there and immediately get greeted by the nicest salesman who ended up being the online salesman that was working with us for 2.5 months via email, phone, and text. Prior to arriving we got our 2019 CRV washed and vacuumed as a polite gesture. As we test drive the appraisal manager looked over our CRV and we come back ready to sign the papers and we lost 3k from the original estimate on our trade in. Our salesman tried his hardest to get his managers to agree to the original estimate but they weren’t budging. Stating that “the book” fluctuates and so on. At this point I intervened and showed the emails and convos from the 2.5 months of waiting. One manager explained how markets change every Friday blah blah but the core of his message was he wasn’t budging. So in the end we left Subaru without the car, heartbroken, angry, and lied too. As a side note, “the book” was KBB and so my wife did a quick search and found that they were far below the trade in and the managers proceeded to make more excuses after we would have a counter to their BS. Management was openly unprofessional.

We purchased a used vehicle from them. Even though inventories are tight, we researched and found that it was priced well. We had a problem with the vehicle after two months and H**** and J*** took care of us in concert with the folks that fix VWs in Santa Maria (it was a used VW). I was very grateful and impressed at this level of service in this day and age. I'd certainly consider purchasing another new or used vehicle from them. Honest, service-oriented businesses are hard to find. We are luck to have these guys locally.
