      Im being told to "verify my identity" for a unknown reason - in order to access the cash advance that i paid my subscription fee for. the two factor that im being shown is not updated to my current information - as in it is an old email and number that i dont have access too. When i try to email or inapp contact empower they ignore me, and when i call them they illegally dont have customer service representatives available nor do they give an option for a callback or the like.

      On June 12, 2025, I requested a loan for $550 dollars. I received a message saying there is an error and the money wouldnt go through. Immediately, my account shows I owe $550. I call and email. I received an email back saying someone will contact me, I never heard from anyone. On July 11, 2025, a partial payment of $275 was withdrawn from my bank account, for the loan I didnt receive. My empower account still shows I owe another $275. Ive sent so many emails with no response with a resolution. Just emails stating theyll check it out and get back to me. I have sent them all the proof but no solutions. Im worried if the second $275 isnt pulled it will result in lowering my credit score for non payment.

      I had a ****** account. I took a $650 advance in May. Two payments of $332 were made 7/1. In spite of these covering the advance plus interest, Empower showed a remaining balance of $297. No min pay due showed on the app for the next several months. I questioned this obvious error on the app. While I was waiting for a response, Empower took a payment from my bank of $116 on 7/10. This payment had not been announced in advance or listed upcoming on the app. This payment was not credited to my account in any way, and the app still erroneously showed a balance of $297. My twofold complaint: Empower has inaccurate accounting, and I do not have a remaining balance of $297. Second, Empower took an unannounced debit of $116 from my bank and did not in any way credit me with it on their app. This $116 was straight theft. I demand at least the $116 back and a complete audit of this account, plus an apology.

      I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I still consider the speed of customer service at ********************** to be far too slow on resolving issues, taking weeks to reply, and I still worry about the accuracy of their system, which took unauthorized and unannounced money from my account. If it did it once, it might do it again. I appreciate their eventual reply, even if delayed, and the refund, but I still would not trust this company with access to my bank going forward.

      Subject: Formal Complaint Against Empower **** Unauthorized Subscription ************** Misuse Dear Better Business Bureau Team,I wish to file a formal complaint against Empower **** due to severe and deceptive practices affecting consumers, including myself:1. Unauthorized recurring charges of $8.00 withdrawn from my bank account without my knowledge or consent.2. Continued access to and retention of my personal and financial information even after canceling any supposed subscription.3. No viable means to reach a human representativeonly automated systems and circular responses prevent users from resolving these issues.These actions suggest a coordinated scheme designed to extract funds from unsuspecting users, block access to grievance procedures, and wield unauthorized control over sensitive data.**I respectfully request**:- A formal investigation into Empower ****'s practices regarding unauthorized billing and data retention.- Review of possible breaches of consumer protection laws or privacy statutes.- The public assessment of whether Empower **** should face sanctions or consumer warnings.Please inform me if additional documentation (e.g. bank statements, screenshot of transaction, timeline) is required to support this complaint.Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

      Empower Finance refused to approve my request to revoke ACH authorization which goes against my rights as a consumer. They proceeded to charge $309 from my account without my authorization. They have no right to do so and owe the funds back to my account.

      Company keeps taking money out my account when I am unable and have been unable to access account for a few months! Have tried several times to contact and get nowhere!

      *** received a notification from my credit monitoring service that an Empower account had been opened in February 2025. It showed a $300 balance and I had absolutely no knowledge of this. I reached out to empower and they took my email address and stated that the fraud department would reach out to me. Never heard a word back. Reached out to Experian to open a fraud report. Now I notice a new Empower account with a $313 balance opened in June 2025! Again, I reached out by email and have yet to hear anything. I received an email that stated my claim have been passed on to the fraud department. Strangely enough, they referenced a phone call in the email. There was no phone call in June, only an email. I have not used empower or any payday advanced service for years. This account is not mine. Im asking that they close the account and not let anybody Open a new account using my information. Most importantly, this information needs to be deleted from my credit report with *********** and experian. I am working really hard to keep my familys head above water and pay our bills on time with the hope of owning a home the next year or so. The lack of response from Empower is disturbing to say the least. This is criminal and I plan to pursue any remedy available.

      This is the Second time in a few months that this Company put an account on my credit report causing my credit score to go down .I do not have an account with them and I never have . I have called the company to let them know they put it on my credit report again and to remove it .They have no right to add fake accounts to credit reports . I would like this removed off my credit report and soneone to check how this company is able to even get access to my credit report to actually do something like this . This is the second time it has happened . Please stop this company from doing this to me and other people .I have never had an account with them nor downloaded the app . This is fraud . Please help .

      I subscribed to EMPOWER also DBA EMPOWER FINANCIAL last year. The information provided DID NOT make it clear in laymen's terms or at all that they would have complete access to your bank accounts and ALL OF YOUR TRANSACTIONS AND HISTORY. As soon as I realized what they had done I attempted to close my account.. Not only did it take several tries to unsubscribe, once I was able to do so I discovered that action did not close my account and the app is actively blocking my attempts to delete and remove my bank account details. On top of that the steps provided in the apps help menu to close acct and remove all bank account info 1- do not work. I get an error say they are unable to remove my bank details and 2- the app does not contain any of the options described. Example.. to delete bank info you are directed to go to a certain page and tab to look for a ' More ' tab which does not exist. I am very upset that they still have access to my bank accounts - which again, none of the information made it clear that they would have total access, as if they were me, and that I am unable to delete the information. Short version of all this is that they mislead customers as to the amount of access they have and have set up their product in a way that makes it impossible to remove sensitive information.

      I got a $10 advance from empower on 06/25/2025 I was subscribed to account for $8. The advance wasn't due for another week and subscription wasn't due. They took out $24.14 06/26/2025. This morning the took out $8 again overdrawning my account more i canceled the subscription but they continue to charge my account
