On June 24, 2025, my legally parked vehicle was towed without justification from my assigned space at Horizon Apartments. The parking lease agreement confirmed that the space was mine and I was not in violation of any posted or previously communicated policies. I had received no notice of updated parking rules prohibiting reverse parking, and no signage was posted at entrances as required under California Vehicle Code *****(a)(1).The towing company refused to provide written authorization or deny my request in writing, as required by law. Instead, they sent only photos and ignored my questions. Upon arrival at the tow yard, I was treated rudely and unprofessionally. When I expressed discomfort with staff entering and driving my vehicle, I was met with an aggressive attitude and was told I had no choice. I was forced to allow someone else to operate my car under pressure just to retrieve it, which was deeply humiliating and disrespectful.The towing process violated multiple provisions of CVC *****, including failure to show proper signage, failure to provide timely notice or justification, and improper handling of the release process. No one has responded to my repeated requests for documentation or accountability, including the property manager, who failed to follow through after promising a response within 24 hours.This entire experience was emotionally distressing, a financial burden, and a misuse of authority on the part of both the towing company and the property management. I believe this was an unlawful tow and a case of predatory conduct.Initial Complaint

On April 21 expedite towing towed mine and my roommates car(the car is under her name) with its front wheels down assuring her nothing would happen to the car. Upon arrival to the shop the mechanic recorded the tow because he knew it was going to ruin the transmission and the driver got belligerently angry at the mechanic. After the tow our transmission light came on, which had never happened before, and after an evaluation by the mechanic it was decided our car would need a new transmission for $6,666. Upon trying to attain the insurance from the towing company they have refused to give us any information and have yelled at my roommate for asking. It is illegal for them to not give us the insurance when they are the reason our car needs a nearly 7000 dollar fix. I implore you to help us obtain their insurance information that they are illegally withholding.Initial Complaint

On 9/16/2025 at 9:07 am we arrived to the impound lot in *********** to retrieve our vehicle that had been towed the night before. We called the phone number posted ************** to get access into the lot and the phone representative told us the lot attendant was on his breakfast break and would be back in about 45 minutes and we would need to wait as there was no one else available. We waited for **************************************** tow truck for the yard enter so we called back again. We were then told the attendant was now back and we were allowed to enter. Once finally inside with the attendant; he was unable to take our payment as we did not have the exact change ($383) we had brought $400 cash and he explained they do not give out change and we must bring exact change and the phone representative should have told us. We left to get change and came back and retrieved the car at 9:53 am, in total we made 3 trips before we were able to get our car. We asked for a discount since we had been waiting 45 minutes for us to be able to get the car but the attendant mentioned it was not possible. I explained the law is for businesses such as theirs to have someone available during normal business hours to help customers unless its a holiday and by not doing so they are not in compliance. The attendant explained that only applies to their other location and not in ***********. We feel Expedite Towing is not being truthful and transparent about knowing they have the responsibility to have an employee available during business hours on non holidays to retrieve vehicles.Initial Complaint

On October 25th, Angeloss Towing which operates under the business name of Expedite Towing located at *************************************************** towed my car from private property. I went to their tow yard no more than an hour after they towed my vehicle. They did not show me the authorization that is required to be signed by the person who requested the tow and they were going to charge me $475 for a 3.2 mile tow. I had to go renew my registration of my vehicle at the *** to retrieve it from them. After three hours I showed back up at 5:10 PM which was ten minutes after they closed. They have a number in which you can call someone to open up the business after hours to get your vehicle. They told me they were going to send someone out there to help me. I waited 45 minutes for someone to show up. I called again and they had no clue about me being there to pick-up my vehicle, they told me again they were going to send somebody to help me. I waited another 45 minutes and then a tow truck appeared at the gate. I spoke to the driver and he said he had no clue about me picking up my vehicle. He called another employee asking if he could help me and they agreed. After my vehicle being there for only 5 hours I was charged $597 to retrieve my vehicle. This exceeds the **************************** Impound rates which means this business is price gouging and operating a a predatory business.Initial Complaint

On Oct 15th, we had a car collision and we call this company for towing. The driver told us it costs only 195 dollars. We have told the driver while on his car that our insurance company will not pay for us. When arrived our home, the drive said that he would help us towing our car to another place and if we verified that the insurance indeed cannot pay for us, he would drove the car back for us for FREE! This means that we only need to pay still 195! HOWEVER!!!! On the next day, we called for our car, they required for around 900dollars or we cannot have our cars. The attached picture is the confirmation of ***** and the conversation with their worker that can show that we told the worker we only have half-insurance and the worker still ask us to talk to the insurance and towing our car to their yard!!!!Initial Complaint

Subject: Illegal and Unreasonable Towing Practices and Excessive Fees I am writing to formally lodge a complaint against Expedite Towing regarding their illegal and unreasonable towing practices that I experienced as a mover for a tenant at ***************, located at ******************************************************. On October 12, 2024, I was in the process of moving oversized furniture from an apartment using a borrowed moving truck. While actively working to lift the heavy furniture out the unit the pickup truck was towed approximately ************************************************ the complex parking lot without a permit.According to California Vehicle Code Section *****, a vehicle must be observed for a minimum of one hour before it can be towed for lack of a permit. In this instance, the towing company violated this regulation by towing my vehicle well before the one-hour threshold had been reached. In addition to the premature towing, I faced excessive fees associated with the towing and storage of my vehicle. The initial tow fee was exorbitant, and I was further burdened by daily storage fees that accumulated due to the towing company's restrictions for releasing the vehicle. Attempts to retrieve my vehicle were met with great difficulty, exacerbating an already stressful situation and causing delays. I believe that the actions taken by Expedite Towing were not only unjust but also in violation of state regulations. I am requesting that the BBB investigate this matter and assist in resolving my concerns. I would like to see the following actions taken:1. A refund of the excessive tow fees and storage charges incurred.2. On April 17th 2024 at 3 PM. I have my car told for my house to a body shop. I take pictures of all the damage from my car and miles and how much gas the car has, my car had a full tank of gas. But Once The Body Shop received the car they take pictures also and their picture of the mileage and gas was different. It only had half tank of gas. I called the tow company and let them aware of this issue what they said that there's cameras all ove the vehicles and that their drives won't do that. On 3/17/24 my car was wrongfully towed out my parking spot on private property. My land lord stated she didnt know anything about it and didnt give approval (I have the emails). I called the tow company to relapse my car the first day it was towed they refused and claimed I needed a form from the police department but when I called the police department they stated I didnt need any paperwork, and they should be able to release the car. I called the tow company back, the lady representative was rude and threatened to call the police on me if I kept calling. Expedite Towing over charge my credit card and refuse to provide me with proper documentation of payment receipt. It appears Expedite Towing trying to submit payment twice for payment. I had ask the numerous of time I need the receipt for the tow they refuse to provide me with a receipt be an invoice showing there a balance owning. My roadside assistance company was planning to pay for the tow that day but the dispatch from Expedite Towing refused to have the ******************** Assistant to wait for supervisor to authorize the tow. They told me if I didn't pay for the tow now they was going take it to store. I was under duress because I didn't have fund to get my car out of store. I had realized Expedite Tow charge my credit card for additional charge. I was force to pay the tow because I was under duress since they was going to store my car and I didn't have the fund to get it out. I am asking for the full amount of my tow since they bill the ******************** . I have documentation stating ******************** will pay for the tow. They didn't provide me with anything showing I had paid for the tow. According to the email it shown there was a charge (CX) for $222. I have been waiting for 5 weeks trying to get reimbursement because Expedite Tow refuse to provide me with receipt. I suspect they're trying to double bill the customer.Initial Complaint
