I recently had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with SDCCU, and I feel compelled to share my negative review to warn others about their poor service. I used their mobile deposit feature to deposit a check into my account, and initially, everything seemed to go smoothly as they posted the check amount to my account. However, my satisfaction quickly turned into dismay when several days later, SDCCU inexplicably withdrew the check amount from my account. Their reason? The check wasn't endorsed with my husband's signature. This sudden withdrawal caused a chain reaction of financial issues, leading to multiple overdrafts on my account due to transactions I had made assuming those funds were available. When I contacted SDCCU to address the situation and seek reimbursement for the overdraft fees that were a direct result of their mistake, I was met with further disappointment. Despite acknowledging their error and the hardship it caused me, the bank only agreed to credit me for half of the overdraft fees. This inadequate response left me feeling undervalued as a customer and deeply dissatisfied with their lack of accountability. As a result of this experience, I have made the decision to close my account and sever all ties with SDCCU. I plan to share my experience with everyone I know to caution them about trusting this bank, especially when it comes to mobile deposits and handling errors fairly and responsibly.Overall, my experience with SDCCU has been incredibly negative, and I urge others to consider alternative banking options that prioritize customer satisfaction and transparency.Review from Abtisam A

I tried to open a checking account with them, but I was told my credit score was less than 600, so they decided to open a savings account for me. One week later, I went back to close my account. There, they told me they would charge me $10.00 to close my account as a penalty for closing my savings account with them. I questioned the lady, and she told me this is their policy and that is how they make money from people. I told her I would post a review online and tell the story; her response was, 'I don't care what you want to do.Review from Gabriela V

Awful and shamed. Went into bank, pleasant conversation with teller. She left to ask question regarding car payment, came back to ask for me to remove my hat. They did have signs, but I didnt see them. Security guard, 4 staff members passed by and still ***** said anything until at the almost end of transaction. I work for a bank and we arent allowed to have clients remove hats or sunglasses because we dont know if there is a disability. I have very thinning hair. I was very embarrassed. Charged an overdraft fee for going negative by .99 cents. Not even a dollar bill. They didn't want to waive the $33 CourtesyACH fee. They could've just declined it but they didn't even bother that either. They will s**** you over so they can make a profit. Been with them for 6-7 years and this is how they treat their members, alright than.Review from Daniel V

I am extremely dissatisfied with SAN DIEGO COUNTY CREDIT UNION. I have been a lifelong member and have banked with them since I was a child, literally. They refuse to refund two back-to-back overdraft fees, due to a simple mistake caused by Chase Bank.I will be closing all my accounts with them and dont recommend them.Review from Bertha a

I am deeply disappointed with SDCCU's services when it comes to accessing transaction information. As a long-time customer, I have always expected a certain level of professionalism and efficiency. Unfortunately, this recent experience has left me frustrated and questioning the bank's commitment to customer satisfaction. One of the major issues I encountered was the bank's failure to provide adequate transaction history with their official letterhead directly from their online system. In the midst of purchasing a home, I needed to access my daily transaction details on SDCCU's letterhead, I was left astounded by knowing my only option to get this information was by visiting the branch and paying $5. This lack of accessibility to official records made the authenticity of the documents they do provide in their system questionable to my house lending institution and caused me great stress in gathering the documentation I needed. As a reputable financial institution, it is expected that their information assure customers of their reliability and trustworthiness. However, the absence of their letterhead suggests a lack of professionalism and casts doubt on the authenticity of the documents.Another aspect where the bank failed to meet expectations was in providing images of check deposits. As a customer, I rely on these images to verify transactions and maintain accurate records for tax and personal accounting purposes. However, these documents are also not available online and can only be provided directly from the institution for a $3 fee. The overall lack of customer support is disappointing and has significantly impacted my trust in their services. I urge SDCCU to rectify these shortcomings immediately, by:Ensuring that all transaction history documents bear the bank's official letterhead for authenticity; and Promptly providing images of all checks at no cost.Review from Donna P

I joined this credit union after moving to SD and I have had a personal and business account with them for the last 4+ years. I am a small business owner who depends on a car to get to my job(s). My **** vehicle recently broke down and is too far gone to sink any money into. I applied for a car loan at SDCCU and received an email 'Congratulating' me on my approval. I began the process of searching for a car, I had a few lined up to take a look at. I sent all the information requested with no feedback. Six days after the application had been approved I received yet another email, this time from a loan officer, 'congratulating' me on my loan approval. Six minutes later I got an email stating that 'unfortunately I would not qualify' for a 10k car loan. I called to find out what was going on and I got a lot of nonsense about my income because I am a small business owner. There was no help or alternative offered. No help or consideration for a loyal customer. I also canceled and reordered my debit cards five weeks ago and STILL have not received them. I'm out of there.Review from Dan B

By far one of the worst banks in Southern **********; online banking is constantly offline, the branches are deserted with one person helping 10 people in line, random issues with their debit cards declining but then working just fine the next day. They are so incompetent that they warn you all the time about protecting yourself from social media scams, yet they allow their ******** page to be filled with scammers posting comments because apparently no one manages that asset in the bank.Do yourself a favor and stay far away from them.
