      In August 2021 i paid for a driving class for my daughter Mariana ******. She finished the online part and got her permit today. I called A1 today to schedule her behind the wheel training to find the number disconnected and yelp says its closed. I paid almost 500.00 and now im going to have to find another school to do the 3, 2-hour behind the wheel classes. 399.00 I need help to get a refund. What can I do?

      A-1 Driving School's instructor failed to show up for my final driving lesson on February 14, 2022. I paid $50 for this lesson and attempted to contact the school to request a refund. I was unable to get through to the school and learned that it went out of business. Per the Department of Motor Vehicles suggestion, I sent a letter to A-1 Driving School's insurer, Hartford Fire Insurance Company, Attention: Claims Department, One Hartford Plaza, Hartford CT 06115 to request a refund of the $50 over 8 weeks ago and still have not received a response. I am now filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau.

      I paid a total of $430 for 3 separate 2-hour behind the wheel drivers training sessions required by DMV for my daughter to validate her learner's permit and obtain her Driver's License. She only received the 1st two sessions. The last session was scheduled for the night before her behind the wheel DMV driver's license exam which was scheduled for 5/10/2022. The instructor did not show and did not call. I started making calls and then looking online only to find out they were out of business! Now we are left with having to repay another company so that my daughter can follow DMV regulations and obtain her driver's license. The payments were made by credit card on October 13th, 2021 (paid $215) and December 14th, 2021 (paid $215).

      After researching driving schools for my teenage son, I settled on A1 Driving School. On Dec. 26, 2021 I paid $494.65 for him to have 3 2-hour driving lessons spaced out over 6 mos. He had his first lesson in January. He was scheduled for his 2nd lesson today and I tried calling to confirm. The voice mail box was full. I tried the after hours number, it was disconnected. I sent two emails. No response. I logged in to Yelp and saw that several customers, since February, have been having the same problem and that the business apparently shut down with no notice or refunds.

      I purchased the silver driver’s package for teens for my daughter, it was an 8-hour Driver Training Package that included: Three 2-hour lessons, behind-the-wheel -and- a DMV Drive Test Appointment (2 hours). I paid a total of $670 for the package (1st payment of $335 was on 10/7/21 and 2nd payment was on 12/27/21). My daughter only received two lessons (10/8/21 and 12/28/21) out of the four we paid for in the package. On 1/28/22 I called A1 Driving School and scheduled my daughter’s 3rd lesson (for 3/20/22) and A1 made her 4th lesson/DMV driver’s test for 3/25/22. My daughter was supposed to have her 3rd lesson today (3/20/22) and the instructor never showed up. We tried calling A1 (at ************) and the voicemail was full and would not accept messages. We then started to do research online and Yelp reviews stated that the business had closed. In addition, Secretary of State search showed the CEO/President ******* **** ******** resigned from the corporation on 1/31/22, which was three days after I spoke to A1 (on 1/28/22) to schedule my daughter’s 3rd lesson and 4th lesson/DMV driver’s test. It appears that ******* has been involved with A1 since approximately 1998. We also checked the DMV website and it shows that the status of the A1 Driving School’s license is invalid. A1 was also supposed to pick my daughter up on Friday, 3/25/22 for her 4th and last driver’s lesson and then take her to her DMV driver’s test. Now we’re are out the money that we paid A1 and we are scrambling to try to find a driver’s school that can provide my daughter with her last lesson and certificate of completion before her DMV driver’s test on Friday, 3/25/22. This is very frustrating for us as parents and disappointing for our daughter.

      I paid this business $900.00 for driving instruction for my teen daughter they only did the 1st lesson and now it appears they have closed the business with no notice or refund. Her DMV permit has a timeline and requirements A1 Driving schools neglect to refund and notify their customers of their clouser has caused undue hardship and should be an illegal business practice I paid for a service and didn't not receive the service.

      I prepaid for teen driving lessons on 09/20/2021; $430 for 3 sessions. Company was a no-show on appointments. I have called many times to reschedule to be redirected to a full voicemail box. Unable to contact company, no follow-up, no communication from company. Company is now out of business as stated in BBB and Yelp. I have paid for service and service have not been received.

      Bought a three lesson behind the wheel package for $453.45. My son got the first driving lesson 11/19/21 , the second was originally supposed to be on 12/30/21 but was rescheduled due to "instructors having covid exposure" which was understandable. The second lesson was later cancelled via phone. We were told we would get a call to set up a new time for the second lesson. Call never came, and the date for the third lesson 1/25/22 came and went with no contact from the driving school. We followed up with calls and emails, and even went to the business location in person. They seemed fully closed down. So we only received 1 lesson. We had to buy a whole new set of lessons for our son. Luckily we found a school that could accommodate us on short notice and he now has passed his drivers test. A1 Driving School website states they are licensed by the DMV and we used them because of the CA state requirement for driving instruction.

      I bought a 3 lesson package for my teen son (paid in full at time of booking the first lesson). He received 2 lessons. I called to schedule the 3rd and final lesson that would include the certification required by DMV, but the office is closed, no answer on the phone, no response to my emails, voicemail is full and no way to leave a message. I had to pay again for a lesson with a different driving school for my son to be able to take the driver’s test at DMV. I just want a refund for the 3rd lesson and certificate fee.

      On January 3rd we processed a transaction for $480 to pay for behind the wheel drivers training. I have called numerous times (looking at my phone history I count 13 calls). Their voicemail is full so you cannot leave a message. I have sent 4 email messages and have received no response to my messages. I have asked to schedule the driver training that we paid in full (January 3, 2022). Let me know if you have any questions or need any further information.
