CASE #******* I am writing to file a formal complaint against Box, Inc., regarding the mishandling of data that has caused irreparable harm to our organization, Minor-I.T. As a Black-owned nonprofit dedicated to empowering teens and young people of color to pursue IT careers, we rely heavily on data integrity and security. However, Box's negligence and inadequate support have jeopardized our operations.On January 20, 2024, Minor-I.T. was the victim of a ransomware attack, leading us to wipe our NAS server and rely on Box's data replication service. However, upon attempting to restore our data, we discovered a disparity: only 1.1 TB of data was retrievable, a fraction of our 17 TB of critical information. This loss has had a crippling effect on our organization, hindering our ability to function and serve our community.Our attempts to seek assistance from Box have been met with incompetence. Despite our pleas for help, Box's support team has been unresponsive, leaving us to navigate this crisis alone. The lack of professionalism displayed by Box's representatives, including the "web app specialist" ****, is disgraceful.**** has failed to fulfill his duties as a support specialist, offering excuses and empty promises. His attempts to shift blame onto our organization are baseless. We have provided evidence to refute these claims, yet **** continues to evade responsibility and provide no meaningful assistance.It is unacceptable that Box would fail so miserably in providing basic data protection measures. The loss of our data, coupled with Box's customer service, has put our organization at risk.We demand immediate action from Box, including a full restoration of our data and compensation for damages incurred. We urge the Better Business Bureau to conduct a thorough investigation into Box's practices and hold them accountable.
