i brought my boat in to south wind boat shop and while my boat was in there the shop they damage my boat the owner **** said they will fix the damage but they only fix one area and did not fix the other 2 area they damage. in total this shop damage 5 different area . this has started back in april 2021 the owner now will not respond to me and he has been putting me off . **** verbally told me they were going to repair all the damage but only fix 1 spot and did not fix all the damage. **** did replace the prop on my kicker motor and i repair my light bracket. there is still 2 large scathes and a broken tail light. i have been patient with this company but i want my boat fix . this company never gave me a estimate for the original work on the boat motor.Initial Complaint

I took my boat to have and Oil change, Tune up and break lights fixed, at Southwinds Hot Boats. I was quoted $500 verbally. Never revived a written estimate. I was charged $862 when I came to pick it up. The break lights were still not working. The owner blamed it on ****** who did the installation of the wiring and hitch. Went back to ****** and connected it to one of their trailers and everything worked great. It was indeed a wiring issue. Tune up was not done. In fact the boat wouldn't even start and stay running. The only thing they did was replace plugs and change oil, and charged $862 for about 2 hrs work. Rate was quoted at $125 an hr. Talked with several other boat shops and said, that was about how long it takes to do an oil change and spark plugs. **** ****** ripped me off and I would like a full refund. I now need to take it to another shop to have the fix it properly . CALIFORNIA STATUTE Never gave a written price estimateBusiness response

I did everything that I charged for I told him several times I don’t work on outboard engines , he asked me to do a oil change on the motor and drive unit, we did that including changed the oil filter. I told him his carburetors needs rebuild and one of them has the adjustment screw broken off inside it , he told me yes he had noticed that, again I told him that I DONT work on outboards , I told him I would see if I could locate the missing part and check on getting rebuild kits .
The trailer wireing had numerous shorts and broken connections I repaired the wires and tested the lights all were working when he picked it up. I sent him pictures of everything working. He brought it back in and left it to be checked, I checked the wireing and again everything was working , I sent him pictures of everything working, I suggested it must be the vehicle as it all works. The second time I spent another two hours checking everything, he paid NOTHING when he picked it up.
I did what I charged for which was parts and labor at our agreed rate . The trailer wireing was very time consuming.Business response

I have proof that the trailer lights were working when he picked it up. I actually sent him pictures of everything working. I did everything I charged for. A oil change on the motor and drive , new filter , new spark plugs. That’s what a device and tuneup is . I advised him that the carburetors needed rebuilding and one of them was missing a mixture adjustment screw . I don’t lie !!! I also told him and his friend I don’t work on outboards !! He begged me to look at it because he couldn’t find anyone else to do it . I told him I can do the service but can’t put a load on the motor as I don’t have a dynamometer for the outboard motor. He asked me to do it anyway. I did everything that I charged him for and when he brought it back because of the lights not working on his vehicle, I spent time going over everything to check the trailer lights, they worked perfectly, I took pictures and sent them to him . He wanted me to rebuild the carburetors I I told him I would check to see if I could get the parts and if I could I would do that for him. He asked if I could go easy on the price for doing the carburetors, I told him if I could get the parts it would be time plus the parts .
When he showed up and picked up the boat he didn’t pay me for the time involved in rechecking the lights or the diagnostic time on the carburetors. He just grabbed his boat and left without talking to me. I went out to the front and as soon as they saw me he dashed down the street . I am not the liar he is !! I can prove everything I have said.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:you can’t tune up any motor without starting it . You are a liar and a cheat. Give have the money back. You don’t deserve to be paid anything
