I took my car in and told ****** (the owner) that I need a starter and I need it installed. He said no problem and I left. He called me hours later and told me that he "doesn't trust what customers tell him, so I ran my own tests and you were right. It does need a starter." Duh. That's why I brought it in. He then tells me that he's only charging me half price for tests I never asked for. I already had 2 mechanics tell me that the starter was gone. I knew what the problem was. I don't appreciate being ripped off. On top of this problem, the so called mechanic, never put the dipstick back in the car. ****** called the next day to tell me that they found a dipstick and that I should bring the car back. I backed the car out of my driveway and discovered oil everywhere. They caused a lot of damage to my driveway with their mistakes. Very negligent. They owe me for the cleaning that took hours and the refund for the work that wasn't authorized. ******** gave me 100 bucks for all the problems they caused. It's not enough. My driveway is disgusting now. Brand new house, just built and the driveway is a wreck.

**** CLAIMS THAT I DID A DIGNOSTIC WITHOUT CONSENT WHICH IS ACTUALLY A COMPLETE LIE. I EXPLAINED TO HIM IN PERSON THAT WE RECOMEND A DIAGNOSTIC TO ENSURE THAT THE STARTER WAS ACTUALLY THE PROBLEM. I EXPLAIND THAT THE COST FOR THE ELECTRICAL DAGNOSIS WAS $185 AND HE AGREED. HE SIGNED THE DOCUMENT AND LEFT, AFTER MY TECHNICIAN CHECKED THE CHARGING AND STARTING SYSTEMS I CALLED BACK WITH THE DIAGNOSIS AND A COMPLETE *****. I ALSO EXPLAINED THAT I WOULD DISCOUNT THE DIAGNOSIS TO 1/2 HOUR AND HE AGREED ON THE ***** AND TOLD ME TO PROCEED. I WILL SAY THAT **** WAS VERY UNPLEASANT THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE PROCESS AND I THINK HE WOULD BENIFIT FROM SOME COUNSELLING.

AFTER **** LEFT MY TECH REALIZED THAT HE INADVERTANTLY FORGOT THE DIPSTICK, I CALLED **** IMMEADIATELY AND EXPLAINED THE SITUATION HE CAME RIGHT DOWN AND SHOWED ME THE OIL STAIN ON HIS DRIVEWAY. I APOLOGIZED AND ASKED HIM HOW I COULD MAKE IT RIGHT. HE SAID THAT HE WANTED A ****** REFUND TO COMPENSATE HIM FOR HE STAIN. I AGREED AND PAID HIM. HE LEFT WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.

      1) ******************* KNEW EXACTLY HOW MUCH THE DIAGNOSTIC WAS AND AGREED TO IT I WRITING.

      2) **** APPROVED THE AMOUNT FOR REPAIRS ( THERE IS NO COOLING OFF PERIOD ) HE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO DECLINE THE REPARS AND DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND HE AGREED TO BOTH.

      3) **** WAS THE ONE WHO ASKED ME FOR $****** TO COMPENSATE HIM FOR THE STAIN WHICH I AGREED TO.

I am rejecting this response because: the response from the owner is a complete lie. You told me the "estimate" was for the time to get it done. I knew it would only take an hour and I agreed. You told me you didn't need my mileage at all and put it a 2 miles total driven. That's on the paperwork you gave me. When you called later to tell me you did UNAUTHORIZED WORK in testing the already diagnosed problem, I asked you how much to cut ties and pick it up. You told me $691. I asked again how much to get the car and walk away now and you again told me $691. I assumed by that you were holding my car for ****** at that point because either you don't understand English or you knew exactly what you were doing. I said that seemed a bit high and you replied "And I only charged you half for the test" that i didn't need at all. I told you to to the work since you were holding my car for full price even though you didn't do any work on it yet. BIGTIME SCAM. You say I was unpleasant the whole time? I was unpleasant when your business was negligent in doing the proper procedures. I was unpleasant when I saw the huge mess YOUR business caused on my property. Maybe you and your crew need counseling from actual mechanics so you do the job correctly, then you wouldn't cry and call customers names when you ruin their property by being terribly underskilled and subpar "mechanics". Waiting for your next lies to respond to.

      Customer response

I am rejecting this response because:

I called in the morning at 11:52 am, hours before bringing the car in. I told the owner "I need a starter and I need it put in. I had 2 mechanics tell me already." You said," Yeah, we can do that. Just bring it in." You were aware that morning what needed to be done. No mention to me that you didn't trust me and would be running UNAUTHORIZED TESTS that told you what I already knew. Please stop lying about this and calling me names and saying I need counseling. You've already been exposed as a scammer and a negligent so called mechanic. When I brought the car in for the dipstick, all you did the whole time was talk c*** on your mechanic and tell me he's on thin ice. Over and over he threatened his workers job. He probably thought he looked like a tough guy but he really came off as a clown and a disrespectful business person. I'm sure your dad is proud of your weasel tactics. There should be undercover people that go in and bust SCAMMERS LIKE YOU. You are a complete liar. It shows what kind of a person you really are. Why didn't you say anything about a test until you did the test and called to tell me. Why didn't you say anything when I talked to you in the morning? Why didn't you say anything when I showed up with the tow truck? It's because I told you that I needed a starter and I need it installed. I had 2 mechanics tell me that. You knew exactly what I wanted done. You did tests to verify what I already knew and then you told me. You also said that it's a simple and easy clean up of my driveway for all the spilled oil you caused. You said all i had to do was use a little degreaser and a power washer and "it's a breeze. No problem. " I thought he knew what he was talking about since he worked with oil. He lied. It is not an easy clean up at all. Hours of work and the driveway looks about the same. I'll be getting some estimates from people who will clean your businesses mess that you were negligent and caused in my driveway. Funny you claimed I was unpleasant to deal with. When my wife and I got the car, you were begging us to come back for more business. Seems like you wouldn't want unpleasant people around....unless you weren't unhappy with me until you guys screwed up. That's more logical, isn't it. I was unpleasant the next morning when you called and told me the car was missing the dipstick and there was a huge oil mess in my driveway! Admit your mistakes or dig in and lie some more. Up to you ******. I am asking for a return of $185 for the wasted labor hour of a test I never needed. $100 returned for the unauthorized test and $500 for the environmental cleanup that I need done to get rid of the spilled oil caused by Dads automotive. Total returned is $785. Pay up. You caused the damage. You are responsible.

Brought our 83 suburban to dads auto to fix trans problem. First charged us $1804.22. Paid $500 in cash to get the job started. For torque converter and a full trans rebuild. 3 weeks go by. Ordered a few parts. Price went up again. $500. With another 2 week wait for parts to come in. Then we had to open a credit card cuz we weren’t expecting more then $1800. New amount was $2300. Another 300$ for new u joints. Broke the new starter we just put in in Jan. We had to buy another one. Another $200. Killed new batteries we got in November they had them charging when we picked it up. We didn’t wait for them to finish “fixing it” because they just kept breaking stuff. We want our money back and debt gone. the job wasn’t finished or done correctly. Our car still isn’t running right. The transmission is still leaking. We don’t know yet but we might need a new alternator. Why should we pay for a job not done.

Client brought in an 1983 suburban with a complaint of a transmission leak,  We recommended to reseal the transmission due to multiple leaks, but after disassembly determined that the torque converter and pump seal were damaged and the transmission internals needed to be replaced / rebuilt, that is why the transmission estimate changed (which was approved by the client).  The u-joints were badly worn and Nathan approved their replacement. The client purchased a starter from AutoZone in January and it started acting up after the transmission replacement. WE removed and replaced the starter FOR FREE and he got it warrantied through Autozone for FREE. Once the vehicle was up and running it was determined that the Autozone Alternator that was on the suburban was not charging the battery sufficiently, We called the client and offered to replace the Alternator FREE OF CHARGE and he screamed and cussed at us and demanded to pick up his vehicle  right away DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE HAD NOT MADE FINAL ADJUSTMENTS ON THE DETENT SHIFT CABLE. After picking it up he then complained that it doesn't shift correctly? The transmission is under warranty and if it is leaking we would be happy to fix it for free. If it isn't shifting correctly we would be happy to adjust the detent cable as we recommended. We refuse to use AUTOZONE PARTS due to the extremely high failure rates, WE replaced the starter that he warrantied for free and we offered to replace the alternator for FREE. Instead of being reasonable and allowing us to finish the transmission adjustments Nathan demanded the vehicle back and refuses to cooperate. They slandered us and used foul language on yelp and google reviews and think were going to refund their money? that's not going to happen. We will honor our warranty on the transmission if there is an actual problem, of course they would need to return the vehicle and allow us reasonable time to make any repairs.
