Date:8/21/23 Amount deposited:$1000.00 Contractor had stated in front of myself and a witness verbally, that I would receive a full refund if the project did not start. The job (roof replacement) NEVER started. NO work, No permits, etc were ever pulled due to not being able to get approvals for financing. I asked for a full refund & was only given $500. I was told that he was going to keep the remaining $500 for a "cancellation fee" and for his "troubles". I do not agree with this as he never disclosed there was a cancellation fee should the project never happen. I am requesting the remaining $500 be refunded to me as per the original agreement.Business response

On July 19, 2023 ************** contacted our company through a search online for roofing company's. A paid lead service we pay money for each lead sent our way. July 20,2023 our Estimator come out to meet ************** an to inspect and give estimate for reroof on his home. On August 21, 2023 Our Sales Rep came back out to ****************** home to go over finance options to see if they qualify and to collect signed contract and $1000 deposit. ************** was rejected by our primary finance company but we had other options/programs to look at to finance. When those options reject him too. Sept. 11, 2023 Our sales man came back out to his home to meet with ************** and his daughter who he said was going to co sign with him in attempt to be able to get a new roof. Even still they couldn't qualify for financing. ************** said he would try his bank and other options on his own in attempt to get qualified. Those weren't successful either. We then issued a refund check in the amount of $500 to ************** on Oct. 4,2023 with a note explaining we have spent way more than the $500 on him in lead cost, 3-4 trips out to his home and over 10 hours trying to get financing for him. But we would credit him the remaining $500 when he is able to acquire financing and we can complete the reroof of his home. Instead ************** complains to the **** and the BBB. Hence why I'm responding to this complaint. The $500 shorted back to him with explanation isn't worth the hassle he is causing and a check with the remaining $500 was mailed to him Nov. 6, 2023.
