On October 23, 2021, I purchased a phone for my son at Boost Mobile. They were advertising a Samsung A32, regularly priced at $279.99 for a sale price of $199.99. I decided to purchase the phone and a $50 phone card. When they gave the total cost, it came out to $260.00 for the phone and $54 for the $50 card. I didn't see the hand written invoice that day, since they gave it to my son. When I looked at it the next day, I noticed that the charges didn't make sense. I went back to Boost mobile for an explanation. They had rounded the phone price to $200. They added an activation fee of $35, which made no sense to me, since I have never been charged for activating a phone. They also charged $25 for taxes. When I asked why the taxes were so high, they told me that the taxes are always charged on the original price, not the sale price. I know that this isn't true, but they insisted that it was. They also had no explanation for why the sale price was rounded up and taxes were an even $25. The electronic receipt for the phone purchase did not itemize any of the charges. They refused to refund me for the activation fee and over-charged taxes, claiming that everything was charged correctly. I wonder how many other customers they have over charged.
