I visited *** at their ********** location on 4/7/25 and was told by a front desk employee that orders with standardfeatures would ship in 3 weeks and custom features would ship in 4. On 4/12/25 I ordered a model S for my wife with standard features On 4/29 I received an automated type email stating that my bike was assigned to a builder. Nothing beyond that tried calling the following week and could only get the answering machine. So visited HQ again - on 5/8. Was told that although it had been 4 weeks since ordered that it would be another 4 weeks (at a minimum) because they were waiting on components (which I later learned to be batteries). I cancelled the order and was told I would receive a refund within 7-14 days. 6/3/25 I visited again as I had still not received a refund, was told they would follow up with accounting. As of today, 6/12/25, no refund - its been 5 weeks since I cancelled the order and 9 weeks since the initial order. *** has had my money for 9 weeks They took payment in full knowing they couldnt fulfill their commitment. Looking at online forums including their yelp page this seems rather widespread which leads me to believe they are using deposit funds for operative cash flow. Nevertheless, its beginning to feel like international fraud and/or theft by deception.Initial Complaint

An order was placed on 10.10.24 for 8 electric bikes and accessories to Electric Bike Company, through one of their resellers ********************. A partial order was received on or about 03.03.2025 but was missing 8 crates, 5 saddle bags, 5 airtag bells and a bike lock with a value of approximately $2000. I was told in March that items had been backordered. Since then they have not responded to any form of communications. Every effort has been made to contact this company to no avail.Initial Complaint

Complaint to the Better Business Bureau Regarding Electric Bike Company To Whom It May Concern,I am writing to file a formal complaint against the Electric Bike Company regarding my recent purchase of an electric bike that has proven not only unsatisfactory but also unsafe. After spending $3,300 on this product, my experience has been incredibly disappointing, and my concerns have gone largely unanswered for months.Initially, it took almost two months for the bike to arrive, and upon delivery, I noticed scratches on the frame and that crucial bolts were missing. I was not appropriately informed that the battery required delicate maintenance to function correctly, which ultimately led to it going dormant due to lack of use. For several months, despite my relentless attempts to contact the company, it was impossible to get any substantive support.Eventually, I managed to get in touch with the owner of the Electric Bike Company, who assured me that his team would assist my concerns promptly. While there was a rapid response at that moment, this support faded once I raised significant safety issues regarding the bike's design. I found the bike to be unstable and unsafe to ride, which the company itself later acknowledged. When I sought a refund due to these serious safety concerns, my request was denied without a valid explanation. Since then, both the owner and the company have ceased all communication with me, leaving me without support or resolution. Given these circumstances, I am asking the Better Business Bureau to intervene on my behalf and advocate for a full refund of this product. I bought a custom, made to order e bicycle from this manufacturer that markets directly to the public/consumers via the internet. Their business model is to make the e bike and deliver it to your doorstep in all 50 states and ******, fully assembled. No dealers are involved. I made the order on 2/13/24 and it came to my house on 5/6/24. I immediately noticed electronic abnormalities with the bike and called EBC for help. this lead to them directing me do many non invasive tests to the ebike and ***orting back to them my observations. this went on for many weeks and then months. Finally, I told them no progress in diagnosing the defects was being made this way and they needed to direct me to a e bike service center in my area that they deemed qualified to do their warranty work on their *** e bikes. I got resistance to that for weeks until I made it plain that i had the ebike for for almost 6 months and had yet been able to use it much as the electronic defects were severe and it needed to go to a qualified ***air center who would have the tools and expertise to discover what the defects were and to fix it. So they finally relented and told me of a local ***air center in my area they made arrangements with to diagnose and fix it and they would pay them directly. So I took it there where it sat for 3 months. The ***air shop had extreme difficulty reaching *** for diagnostic guidance. But finally the ***air shop and EBC admitted the e bike was assembled with incompatible components that was severe enough that it could not be easily ***aired and the solution was EBC was simply going to make another duplicate ebike and send it to me and I would send the lemon/un***airable defect one back to them in the box the ***lacement came in. So the *** *** put that to her management and she later confirmed thats what they were going to do. but then all of a sudden, they stop all communication. seems *** just decided to not honor their warranty. I have been having trouble with the bike about a month or so after purchasing. My daughter has reached out and nothing. Having a problem with one of our bikes:Got off bike at the time the bike was still on in peddle assist mode. Was walking bike forward, bike jumped forward out of my hands, almost hit two people. I purchased an electric bike from the Electric Bike Company (EBC) in July. The bike was delivered in September. The bike was not built properly and the brakes went out immediately. We had to have the brakes bled from a local bike shop in ********* who stated the breaks were not put on correctly. Then, 2 weeks later the brakes got stuck in the down position and the breaks are leaking and are inoperable causing my son to crash. This bike has less than 200 miles on it and is a huge safety issues. I have reached out to *** for a warranty on the breaks, they said they dont cover breaks. I told them the bike wasnt put together properly when they pride themselves on fully built ready to ride bikes. I asked for them to return the bike because its a huge safety issue as my son uses it to bike to and from work. They stated they would give me a call back and never did. Im currently stuck with a very expensive and poorly built bike that they refuse to help with. The bike arrived in poor condition and it immediately had these issues. On 05/24/24 the fire ***** was called to my home to make an official report. The investigation determined that theofficial cause of fire was the electric bike battery on the bicycle purchased from theElectric Bike Company (***). Days prior to discovering the aftermath of the fire, a call was placed to the *** Tech Support to assist with battery not properly charging. Spoke with tech personnel whom identified herself as Confidence, extremely supportive and helpful. She initially suggested mailing the battery into the *** office. I informed Confidencethat I had previously purchased the additional charger required to resolve this issue, from *** and had followed the step-by-step included instructions to recharge the battery. At which point she began to walk me thru the necessary steps to recharge the battery. During this process a change in the instructions was noted and was different from the steps that had been provided with the purchased battery charger. Whereas, the instructions she provided required that the battery be charged for 5 seconds, the written instructions provided with the purchased charger, required that the battery be charged for 5 minutes. It is my belief that the faulty instructions contributed to the battery fire. An incident which has approached damages totally approximately $50,000. It should be noted that the battery was unplugged when the fire occurred.Spoke with *** personnel ***** on multiple occasions in hopes of receiving possible compensation and was met with unsatisfactory results. I informed ***** of the incident, and the loss of two E-bikes in the fire, totaling approx. $10,000. ***** initially offered to replace both bikes with no other compensation. Later learned that this offer was contingent upon me not filing an insurance claim. Advised *****, this would not work as it would not resolve the issue of damaged and lost equipment. ***** also informed me that the *** bike purchased would not be covered under warranty.Business Response
