On 4/26/2021 I submitted an application with $79 for background check to rent an apartment located in Pasadena, California. However, I was told my credit is bad then I requested a copy of the report because I know for sure is wrong and they refused to give a copy and later I was told the landlord didn't like me, so I wasn't qualified to rent the apartment which is I have never met or seen the landlord. Indeed, they collected my application fee for nothing. Also they provided a false report and refused to give a copy of the report.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/10/21) */ This applicant was never denied. The property owner decided to go with another tenant. We advised the applicant that a copy of the requested documents could be requested and obtained on the website they used for screening. We do not perform credit screenings, ourselves and are unable to send these documents directly. Information on the screening fees and process are provided on the website where applicant paid this fee through a third party website. We attempted to walk the applicant through the process and provided the contact information for the applicant to follow up with obtaining the transunion documents they wanted. The owner/landlord had no contact with the applicant and it is impossible for them to like or dislike the person. We did try to help them multiple times. We tried to explain that they paid the screening fee directly to the screening company, not us and gave them all the information to follow up about a refund. First of all, I would like to thank the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for your excellent job for taking time to solve the problem. The reason I do accept their response is: The vice president of the company called and acknowledged the specific problem highlighted in the complaint and he made several points to respond to each one in turn. Also he apologized for the mistakes his organization has made and explained what he has done to address the problem and offered a refund. Indeed, set out any precautions he will take to prevent similar problems arising.
