on aug 3, 2023 car was brought in for an oil change and new battery. a few weeks later the car broke down with no oil pressure and would not start. owner verbally told us he remembered this vehicle because it is unique and it "had metal shavings in the oil meaning it needs a new engine". after reviewing receipt, this was NOT NOTED anywhere, when i called the owner, he stated he must have mistaken this with another vehicle, because he was looking at pictures and did not see anything. He adamantly said there were shavings in the oil and engine needed replacing, now he is denying he said that, but it was said and he said for sure the engine is blown, my daughter, the driver had the vehicle break down completely as it would not start at all, luckily she was safe, but had we been informed, i would have never let her drive it, i dont like being lied to or intimidated by a business i have spent alot of money on in the past.

This complaint is NOT about whether the contracted services were performed. The customer readily admits that the requested services - an oil/filter change and a new battery being installed, as demonstrated in the attached Repair Order - and in her complaint, were performed. Her complaint is with regards to an offhand, and since retracted, comment I made regarding the state of her daughter's vehicle.

I agree that I told the customer that I thought I remembered this vehicle and that there were metal shavings in the oil. I took a quick glance at the vehicle - which at the time was broken down in a gas station parking lot - and believed I had been told there were metal shavings in the oil.

However, when the customer later asked me why she wasn't told about any metal shavings, my staff and I went back and looked at the fluid tray (picture attached showing a process where we drain a small amount of all major fluids from the vehicle for examination) and realized that there were NO metal shavings in the oil from this particular vehicle. The attached picture clearly shows dirty oil, but does NOT show any metal shavings.

I informed the customer that I was mistaken and that there were no signs of metal shavings in the oil for her daughter's vehicle. She has since repeatedly and publicly accused me of lying to her. I made an offhand comment in a gas station parking later and later explained that I was mistaken. There was NO intent to lie to her whatsoever.

Since the vehicle DID have the customer-requested oil and filter change and a new battery WAS installed in the vehicle (none of which can be returned), I do not feel obligated in any way to refund any amount to this person. However, as a show of good faith, I am willing to refund $100 to the customer on the condition that this customer remove the negative Yelp Review and other negative postings she has made, online or otherwise, and that she refrain from future postings regarding this transaction.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

      Sincerely,

      *************************

I will accept the $100 I dont feel thats fair and the picture sent does not prove it is my vehicle. I WILL NOT remove the yelp review until I receive the $100, I still feel this business likes to take advantage of women.
