      BEWARE!!!!! Pictures are deceiving; the rooms are from 1970 student housing. very old and dirty. We arrived after dark and were so scared to walk in the back alley to get to our room. The front door was open, so we called for security. A maintenance man showed up and walked through. We were so cold (no heat) so we asked for another room. Front desk said if we wanted an upgrade; there is an even higher fee. This is the renovated wing called The Pines. There still was NO heat and walls paper thin. We heard all the footsteps and people chatter next door and upstairs. Could not sleep due to all the noise and cold. Front desk kept saying it is in the description but that is not true. Also, when we came back to our room after lunch; our door was open! The maid will not close & lock the door when she leaves. Extremely disappointing.

      After reading the reviews, I took care to ask for the renovated section and was told to call closer to check in. I called the day before check in and was told that the most renovated building was full, but we are in the building that was renovated last year. At check in, I asked again and was told the same thing. Ok. Cool. The old section is dilapidated in general, but as I put the key in the lock, we remained hopeful. Well, disappointment ensuedin the hugest possible way. The room was about 80 degrees inside and smelled like mildew. The carpet was filthy, the window frame was broken so that the window could not fully close. The door and window frame were *****, as were the lamps, and when you sit on the toilet, your knees hit the sink. I called downstairs to ask where the thermostat was and was told there is no a/c, and theres a fan in the closet. I went downstairs to ask for a different room, noting that I have asthma and couldnt breathe in that space. The attendant said that I got what I paid for and there were no other rooms available. He was incredibly rude and condescending. I sat in the lobby while I watched him happily accommodate other guests. I went back down to point out my issueagain. *********** told me again that there were no rooms and I couldnt have a free upgrade. I didnt want a free upgrade, I just wanted a room where I could breathe. I asked if I could spesk with his manager and he denied me the opportunity. He said, you prepaid for your room, so youre not getting your money back (never asked for that) so your choices at this point are, go back to your room and talk to a manager tomorrow, go find another hotel, or you can wait in the lobby until 9pm when security comes in. We did have to spend the night in the moldy room. I coughed all night and still feel ill.
