I had McBride Landscaping do a quote for me on moving some stones on the right side of my house and spread them around the back yard where needed and spread stones in the front yard. Not sure what day that was but. The owner came by and I showed him what I wanted and gave him sample of stones and told him they don’t use those stones anymore and would need to use 1/2” Sante fe gold. He told me there would be enough stones there for the back and that I would need around 3 tons for the front. The next day or two they called me with a quoted of $750 I agreed to that amount. On the 25th they came I was told they had 4 guys over and did the stones. When I got home that afternoon I saw that they had been here and they only covered 3/4 of my front yard. I called that evening and talked to one of the owners ***** I asked if they were done with the job and she said yes. I asked what about the rest of my yard, she said that I was only paying for that much in rocks but I said I wanted the stones spread over my yard and they only did 3/4 of the yard. She then gave me to her husband and said they could finish but it would cost $450 more I did not think I should have to pay more when they quoted me $750 I told him I was going to the BBB and file a complaint and hung up. I then called ***** back and said we could do the job but it would be $450 I felt that was not right when they had quoted me $750 and felt I was not my fault they did not estimate the right amount of stones. They said he misunderstood me but if they misunderstood me why did they do 3/4 of the yard and not just put the stones in spots. And with an HOA there is no way they would except what was done. I stated to have stones spread over yard not 3/4’s of the yard. I even asked that they should at least compromise but after talking to them I don’t think that was right either as I feel it was there mistake not mine.

      06/30/2022

I am writing to notify you that McBride Landscaping has contacted me today 6/30/22 asking if I was going to pay my bill. I told them I have contacted BBB and that you have sent my complaint to them she stated that she did not receive anything. Also stated they have never had a complaint since they have been in service. I stated that I contacted you twice and that you have sent the notice a total of three times and there has not been a response she asked if we could work it out. I stated we tried and that they wanted me to pay another $450 to finish the job that was quoted at $750. So at the end she said just keep the stones then and they well not be charging me for them.

We contracted with this customer on a very specific job. We bid to install 4 tons of 1/2" Santa Fe Gold rock for $650.00 and to use the stone from the side of the house to fill in some bare spots for $100.00. On the walk through we were not shown the entire area to be covered and so only bid for 4 tons. We did the job and sent the invoice for $750.00. When the invoice hadn't been paid in some weeks I called the customer to inquire. She refused to pay. After some discussion she told me that she knew before any work was done that something was wrong because all the other bids she got were for twice as much rock. Unfortunately for us she didn't share that information before the job was started or this could easily have been avoided. We bid this job based on our understanding of the information given to us by the customer at the time of the walk through and are terribly sorry for the misunderstanding. Given the fact that we had worked for this customer for nine years without ever a problem I was shocked that she was so quick to file a complaint when we wouldn't work for free. We decided we were already out $750.00 and felt like we should cut our losses there. I truly regret this whole situation.
