I've been trying to transfer my domain away from this company for the past 3 weeks. I've been prevented by locks on the domain that I am unable to remove and they are supposed to remove. (No, it's not within the 60 day lock period following a transfer between registrars.) The only response I've gotten from the support team is "we're looking into it". However, when I've repeatedly pressed for an actual timeline, I've actually gotten no response, no indication of an actual plan of action, nor anything they've actually done to prove this is being handled. Nor have they requested any additional information from me beyond what I originally provided. I've reached out to Verisign myself regarding these locks and they've told me that NameSilo has not even reached out to them. So, I'm not sure what else to do. At this point, the support team has not provided any helpful information and I feel like my domain is being held in an effort to prevent me from transferring it. I've submitted a complaint to ***** and really don't know what else to do. I just want to transfer my domain and be done.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: i transferred registars to "Namesilo" because of the prices and thought it would be a good deal till recently. I found out that somehow charges were reversed via my credit card/****** without my knowledge or consent. i have reached out to **************************, registar but they are saying i am "Stealing." I have agreed to pay the return chrgs which was done but they want to charge me over ****** fee for a return credit card charge....they are refusing to give my domain back or send me the codes to switch to another registar. they have been really nasty to deal with too.

The dates of the transactions...10/23/24 and 11/30/24. Amounts of money paid...$47.11 on 10/23/24 and $17.29 on 11/30/24. NameSilo committed to provide...renewal of domain ************ and purchase of domains ************************ and ********************. Nature of the dispute...Without warning, NameSilo shut down my access to my username and password, barring me from access to my previously purchased and renewed domains. Attempted "resolution"...NameSilo will not acknowledge my ownership of the domains without copies of my debit card or bank statement. They have my card information from when I renewed and purchased the domains. I DO NOT want to put copies of my information on the Internet, as I was the victim of a very bad previous hack, unrelated to this issue. As it stands, my domains are inaccessible until the end of 2025, at which time I could be forced to buy them back at an inflated price. The only solutions I can envision...either NameSilo gives me a new password/username and grants me access, or else NameSilo voids the renewal/purchases and releases the domains back to me, in which case I would use another domain registrar. Thanks, BBB!

    Hi,

We regret to inform you that for security reasons, we are unable to grant access to the account due to verification issues. If you prefer not to provide the last four digits of your credit card or an image of it, we kindly request that you submit a copy of your bank statement showing the most recent purchase made with Namesilo.
Additionally, we have offered the option to create a new account and add funds to facilitate the renewal of your domains. This will ensure your domains remain active and prevent the risk of losing ownership.

Please let us know your preferred course of action to resolve this matter, and feel free to reach out if you require further assistance.

What kind of new account, and how many "funds"? You already got your "funds" when I signed up, and I've actually been a customer since registering the name *******************. My username and password were valid, and for you to outright cancel and shut them down arbitrarily is really bad business. This is really a lame form of blackmail. And for all I know, you can pull the same stuff on the "new account", and put me through this nonsense all over again, after I've paid more "funds". Either reinstate the username and password that you arbitrarily shut down, or release the ownership of the domains back to me...you can keep the "funds" I've already invested in this nightmare.

I am trying to access my account and they will not let me have access to my products with them. All they have to do is send a reset link and will not do it to my email. So they are in my mind stealing my products. I just want acces to my account to transfer out my domain names

    Hi,

    Thank you for reaching out.

For security reasons, we do not proceed with password resets via email. In order to proceed with accessing your account, we require a third-party payment proof to verify your identity.

Please provide the necessary documentation to our support email at support@namesilo (.) com. Once we receive it, we will assist you with regaining access to your account and transferring your domain names.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Here's what happened. Last year I bought a lot of domain names on namesilo, and this year I found that my domain names were automatically renewed. When I bought them last year, the platform's purchase interface did not prompt for automatic renewal. I didn't know it was turned on by default, so many domain names were renewed without my knowledge. On July 5, I checked the deduction records and found that a lot of money was deducted. I immediately contacted the platform for a refund and asked for a refund of the deductions for automatic renewal. I wanted it to refund the amount for the unused months, but the platform's service attitude was not good and was unwilling to help solve the problem.

    Hi,

we are truly sorry to hear that your recent experience with our service did not meet your expectations. Although we have 3-days of cancellation policy, yet we still issued a refund for your renewal transactions that made more than 3 days since the transaction. Although given a lot of exception for your case, you are still not satisfied and keep blaming us.

Unfortunately, no more exception can be offered beyond the steps that already taken.

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 08/01/2024

I can't accept it. On the third day, which was July 5, I had already refunded the money in the system. It was less than three days at that time, otherwise I couldn't cancel it. But because the system cannot cancel more products, I told the customer service that I wanted to cancel the order because I couldn't log in to my email, and the customer service agreed to refund it at that time. And after I canceled the order, you charged me a large handling fee, saying that it was a handling fee deducted from my credit card when I paid. This is more than the handling fee mentioned before. I don't believe it was deducted from the credit card, and there is no evidence to prove it. The orders from January 2024 to June 2024 were also automatically renewed without my knowledge, and I want a refund. I think it's the platform's fault. They misled me to renew the product, and the payment was a mistake.

    Hi,

fyi, we have made an exception by issuing refund for July order even though that was more than 3 days (the autorenewal was made on July 1st, but you just contacted us on July 5th) but of course January to June order was not possible to be refunded anymore.

In regards to handling fee, we have also notified you that the 0.60 USD fee covers processing and transaction fees associated with each product ordered and the payment method used. This fee is not
    refundable.

I was charged for auto-renewal. I didn't know about the auto-renewal and didn't get any reminders. I just want a refund. Please refund me. This was a mistake.I don't know why auto-renewal is on by default. This is a scam and I want compensation. I want you to compensate me for the auto-renewal charges from January to June.

I believe this company is nefarious due to seeing results in ****** to "Black Hat" sites .I have no issue with those that *** be somehow related in results, my issue is towards the listed. I am seriously considering taking further actions. My personal info which has somehow landed into these owner's hands. Nevada has laws against this, and today's latest offerings have set me over the edge.I want MORE than a satisfactory response. I believe the others complaining here do as well. Hi,

Upon checking we found that the site is not even loading from our end and it is listed as secure by Virustotal.

Content on web sites falls under the purview of the host, not upon the domain name registrar. You will need to contact the host of the website who has control over this or the registrant of the domain directly to resolve this matter.

    To find out who's hosting the website, we'd recommend using a tool like this:  *************************************;

To contact the domain registrant, you just need to check our *****. Even if the owner has turned on ***** privacy, you can still contact them through ***** info. To do this, pls go here:  ************************************************ enter the domain name; in the results page, look for Registrant e-mail to contact.  If you see our info on the ***** page this means that the owner has turned on ***** privacy. Everyone having the same problem, SUBMIT A REGISTRAR COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS COMPANY: ****************************************** Namesilo did not remove a domain that was proven to be used for phishing, and allowed it to continue, impersonating our company. Their phishing abuse form doesn't work. When I tried emailing them, they just had an auto-responder. We filed a complaint with ICANN, as their abuse reporting system is basically non-functional, and they say all problems are not their problem. The problem is, it is your problem. We're looking into filing a lawsuit under the **** (Anticybersquatting Consumer Protection Act), and we suggest you do the same. If there are enough people, a class action may be possible.

    Business Response

    Hi,

We cannot verify any phishing on the email, this appears to be a case of SPAM. Unfortunately, as the domain name registrar, we don't have any control over the content of e-mails as they are not using our email service.  You will need to contact the host of the email (we'd recommend using a tool like this to find the host: **********************) or the registrant directly: Spam/UCE:

As noted above, we do not allow anybody to send SPAM email using our system. Therefore, if yours is a spam/UCE issue, please direct your complaint to the email network/provider(s) used to deliver the email. It is too easy to spoof domain names or otherwise incorrectly implicate a domain name related to spam/UCE for us to investigate complaints.

The people using a domain you provided them are doing illegal phishing/scam activity. You know this from the attached documents and continue to let it happen, despite multiple complaints from myself. Apparently, you let this happen on a normal basis per other BBB complaints. Like I said, this is all being forwarded to our legal team.We gave you the easy way to resolve this, but you picked the difficult way.

    Hi,

Unfortunately, as the domain name registrar, we don't have any control over the content of e-mails as they are not using our email service and hence, we are unable to take action to the email.

As we recommended before, you will need to contact the host of the email (we'd recommend using a tool like this to find the host: **********************) or the registrant directly: Spam/UCE:
As noted above, we do not allow anybody to send SPAM email using our system. Therefore, if yours is a spam/UCE issue, please direct your complaint to the email network/provider(s) used to deliver the email.

If it is related to the domain, we may able to take action on it if they used the domain to involve in scam/ phishing activity.

    Hope this clarifies you.

A domain was registered with NameSilo by a bad actor attempting to scam payment from customers. The domain was very similiar in nature our domain with only a minor difference. Emails were then sent to users pretending to be our company seeking payment via direct deposit stating that my company was no longer able to accept mail payments. When were made aware of the issue, we checked the domain name and found that it had been registered on 24 hours before at NameSilo and we immediately completed an abuse report on their site. Over a week later, we have yet to hear anything despite repeated attempts to contact them and ask about the case. It seems they are not interested in fighting and deterring fraudulent internet activity which is a shame.

I appreciate the explanation, but my complaint is that you failed to respond to my multiple requests on your site. It was only when I filed a complaint against you on BBB that you decided to respond. If you are only a registrar and take no responsibility, then why have a form on your site to report Abuse with selections in regard to Domain Violations and SPAM? Why also do you have a contact us form on the site where you will not respond to requests, of which, multiple were made. Therefore, I do not accept your resolution to my complaint as it is about your ability to respond to legitimate complaints through your website of which, I have still yet to receive a response. If the only way you will respond to consumers is by filing a complaint through the BBB, then I suggest providing a link to the BBB on your website instead of a Contact Us form.
