We originally went to the shop at ****************. in August. Truck ran but had some problems. They estimated repair cost of $8000 to ******. They assured us that we could get another ******* miles after repair. So we said ok. Finally after 5 - 6 weeks, and over $11,000 it was done. It worked for only 2 days. After numerous tries to get it working, they towed it to the shop on *************. Another month of no truck and another $1100.00 and still no drivable truck. We are then informed, while at their shop the catalytic converter was stolen. They say they are not responsable AND WILL NEED ANOTHER $5000. TO REPLACE IT. AND IT STILL WON'T WORK RIGHT. I NEED MY TRUCK WORKING , OR MY EXPENSES RETURNED SO I CAN MAYBE GET IT FIXED OR ANOTHER TRUCK .

The theft of the catalytic converter unfortunately follows a trend of events of criminals nothing to do with auto repair. As stated on our front door and in public social media post it has been made clear that due to the high increase in crime and we are not responsible for any items left in vehicles or anything else that *** occur beyond our control. Its a terrible situation that the pandemic has created for people to steal these type of items and cost consumers. We have gone above and beyond to verify that this truck runs well but does need a catalytic converter that was stolen. We did express to the consumer to reach out to his insurance company as thats what most people are doing in the instance of these situations.

The repair work has been double checked and we do stand behind it but his loss of catalytic converter does not fall under our The responsibility of Scott Repmans truck and auto. With this being a business vehicle he should have commercial business insurance that will guide them through the replacement of this component minus his deductible it will not cost of near the amount of money hes talking mentioning.

      Customer response

1st , The truck was not and is not in working condition. 2nd, I do have comecial insurance but it doesn't cover theft. The response does not address the fact that it was in the shop over 3 months. They have released the truck to us 3 x before, but it has never worked (even as well as it did when we first brought it in for repairs.) The shop it was in when the theft happened, was not the original shop we brought it to. They towed it to this shop , so, as for the sign on door. We wouldn't have seen it. How do we know if they had any security or took any precautions to safe guard my truck.  After putting in over $13,000 to get truck working. We now have a truck that cannot be driven. IT WAS IN BETTER SHAPE BEFORE THEY EVER TOUCHED IT.  They made at least $6000 of the $13,000  in profit. I want them to put on the catalytic converter and get it running perfectly and then I will pay them the actual cost of the converter and parts stolen, (not the price they make up) And just because of the past problems, I will pay them 7 days after we test it out.  This is a more than fair offer.

                                   Sincerely *******************************

The theft of a catalytic converter does not fall under a warranty.  This is not a repair issue this is insurance/theft issue .

If some thing that has been repaired has an issue we will be happy to look at it. It has a warranty.

As far as the catalytic converter goes it is the customers responsibility. He is more than welcome to call the ************************** and file a complaint with them because they cant find the thief.
