We asked for an energy audit. They did get a representative out to assess the house promptly, but things went downhill after that. The representative wasn't adequately equipped to perform the audit: we provided a ladder so he could access the attic, and gave him a particle mask for the dust. He should at least have had a mask with him. The report was delivered late. Once we had decided what we wanted done, the contract also took a few days to show up. After we signed and paid, no one contacted us to schedule the work, even after I called their office twice. It was only after my sister contacted the representative that we found he shouldn't have contracted with us for a job that small in the first place. This was on him, or whoever trained him, but it's also on the receptionist or whomever she relayed my phone messages to. Then the refund check was issued to me rather than my sister, who was the one who paid them. Said sister is a lawyer and tells me that once they had received her check and cashed it, we had a legally binding contract for them to do this work.

I called to make an appointment the day after Thanksgiving for energy hot water heater service, as I had no hot water (after going through standard troubleshooting measures; checking and resetting circuit breaker, pilot light, etc.). They told me that the soonest available appointment was Thursday 12/2. Fine. I gave them my address and made the appointment. Thursday rolls around, my appointment was confirmed via text. My father met the technician only to be told that they do not have proper licensing to fix the hot water heater in Onondaga county. My address is a a Syracuse address, and Syracuse is in Onondaga county. This would’ve been helpful info to know a week ago. So now I have been without hot water for a week. Do not use this company.

This customer called Halco on 11/26 with no hot water. As the customer stated, our call taker scheduled her for 12/2 as that was our soonest availability. Unfortunately, on 12/2 the date of appointment, our service manager contacted the customer to let her know that a scheduling error was made and we could not help since we do not have a plumbing license in Onondaga County. We service 23 counties and unfortunately, Onondaga is the only one we're unable to do plumbing in. As we were trying to do right by the customer, we agreed to send a heating tech at no cost to take a look and see if there was anything we could do to help without doing any plumbing work and without breaking the law. We let the customer know if the tank needed to be replaced it was not something we could help her with. The customer agreed to this.  We sent our tech on 12/2, the same date as this review, and our tech called when he was 20 minutes away. When he showed up, the customer answered the door, smirked, and said she had hot water and the tech was no longer needed. Again, on 12/2 in this review, the customer is claiming she doesn't have hot water but on the same day, 12/2, she dismissed our tech and said she does. Whether or not she was intentionally trying to waste our techs valuably time, I am not sure, but regardless, we tried our best. We made a scheduling mistake, we owned up to it and tried to do right by the customer and unfortunately, she feels that wasn't good enough.
