On July 1st I called and got a quote for Dave's Electric to come out and check my house because we had a power surge from a tree limb rubbing on the power line. The power surge made an outlet smoke. We lost a couple of small appliances due to the power surge. Our breaker box sometimes makes a crackle noise. That is why I called Dave's Electric to come and check it. I called and spoke to them and received a prices. I called around noon and they said it would be considered an emergency call and the first hour would be $135 and $120 for every hour after. When they arrived after I explained what happened they checked the outlet in the living room that was smoking and some in the kitchen. They checked the breaker box and had me turn on things to see if they could hear the noise. They never did. They said they couldn't find any readings that were off but recommend that I replace the entire breaker box. They were here less then two hours. I wanted to get a 2nd opinion on replacing the breaker box. I had another electrician come out who checked all the breakers and voltage. All the numbers checked out and nothing warranted a new breaker box. I received a bill from Dave's electric that I have attached in the amount of $630 for 4 hours of work. This is clearly a company taking advantage of me because I'm an elderly woman. For one they were here for less then 2 hours and they did not replace anything. My son in law called them to try to figure out my bill since I was so upset. He was told it was $180 for the first hour and that they were charging me per person that came out. Never was I told it would be $180 and I would have to pay per person. He was also it was $112.50 for remaining hours. The bill doesn't add up. I'm willing to pay what I was told it would be. Which was 135 for the first hour and 120 for the 2nd hour. They were not here 4 hours and I was never told I would have to pay per person that they sent.
