So, we hired ****** Electric, again, after already having had them do the electrical work for our **** work. For the most part, we were pleased with their work. The only thing that we werent happy with was that the guy that did the work, when he had to get into the attic, he crawled all over the insulation instead of moving it out of the way, basically ruining the insulation effect and look. But, we decided to give them another shot when we remodeled out kitchen. We shouldnt have. The same guy that did the **** wiring came back, and when he was in the attic, again, he crawled all over the insulation, AGAIN! But thats not the reason Im writing this complaint.********************* seems to think that people are made of money, and every home he works on is built on the Street of Dreams! The reason I say that is because we had them install undercabinet lighting and outlets, so that the backsplash would be free of anything in it. I asked ************************** from this point on for ease of typing, if he had any suggestions on lighting or plugs, as we found lots online, but didnt really know what would be best to get. **** told me that he would do some investigating, and get back to me. After about a week, he called me and said that he only found one company that had some lights and plugs, and that theyre really the ONLY company he deals with, but that we should be happy with them. Would we like to go with them? What he didnt do, was bother telling us how much they cost. Something else we asked for when it came to the outlets was low profile, so that they wouldnt be seen AT ALL. When these were put in, you could see then clear across the room. The contractor needed to put in a 1 filler strip along the bottom edge of the cabinets to hide the lights and outlets. But you can still see the bottom of the outlets. So, when I received the invoice, it was over $3,300! I **** near coughed up a lung. The following are actual emails with ****:6/3/2021 6:42pm Oh My GOD!!!! $1000 to hang 3 LIGHTS?!?! What the h*** ****?!?! And how much were these undercabinet plugs and lights? You gave me NO CLUE as to how much these were going to cost, this is outrageous! I was thinking this was going to be a few hundred dollars at most, not $3000!! Come on, you've got to be kidding me.... **** 6/4/2021 5:46am Good morning ****, Please note the $987.54 was the remaining amount on the original bid before you requested additional work to be done. The $987.54 included; hanging your lights, installing switches and plugs, cutting opening for Peninsula plug, provide and installing breakers. It is important to note ****, you were not charged $1,000.00 to hang 3 lights.I regard to the cabinet lights you were charged $855.61, $655.61 parts, $200.00 for labor. As to the plugs, you were charged $913.62, $300.00 for labor. Please also note, you were not charged for the dimmer switch. That was $138.42 at our expense. Thank you, Miike **************** 6/4/2021 8:08am (****)Okay, after looking at the invoice again, I can see where the $987.54 all goes to now, and that does make me feel a little better. The labor I can handle, BUT, what doesn't make me feel any better is the fact that you charged me $913.62 for 5 plug boxes, $855.61 for 5 lights, and are telling me that you threw in the $138.42 dimmer switch that I could have purchased from ********** and had you install for $23.97. So exactly HOW much was each plug box, and each light? You never told me that before they were installed, I wouldn't have wanted them knowing they were going to cost me THIS much, I would've found my own to save the money.**** 8:16am (****)****, I don't shop for switching devices at **********. My cost was $43.76, there is also **** going back to install it. His time is billable time. Hence the price we absorbed for your behalf. I hope this helps, have a great day 8:30am (****)But you didn't answer my most important question - HOW much were each under cabinet plug box and light? $913.62 divided by 5 is $182.72, are you telling me each box was $183? And $855.61 divided by 5 is $171.12. Is this truly how much they cost?8:46am (****)Parts for cabinet plugs were ******, markup added to that. The lights were ******, **** up added to that. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. **** All that being said, we were WAY over-charged. After those emails, **** called me up, and said that he would take the weekend, its Thursday, and rework the numbers. Monday comes along, 6/7/2021, and I get a new email from ****, along with a NEW invoice, and he worked the numbers alright. The original invoice was for $3,319.65, the NEW invoice - $3,211.05. I was lost for words. On the invoice, it gives you 15 days from the Date to pay. Its Tuesday, 6/8/2021, and theres a knock on the door. I answer it, and its ****. Hi ****, whats up? I was in the area, I thought I would swing by and pick up the check. Well ****, I have to go up to the bank and get a money order. Thats okay, I can wait. So, **** goes and starts chatting with the contractor while I go and get him a check. When I get back, I can see that theyre still talking. When I get out of my car, he comes over, and we have it out. I tell him that while I had planned on hiring him for a few more jobs, there was no way that would happen now, and no way would I recommend him to anyone either. He asked if there was any way to make me happy, if he had his wife send me $100, would that help. I said sure, it could help. He said, okay, Ill have her send you $100 check when I get back to the office.I never received the $100 check, and I never heard from him again. Yes, everything works, but we were WAY overcharged, and the electrician that did the work showed that he cared very little about how he treated our house.
