As a military personnel, I regularly perform equipment maintenance using the *** (Preventive Maintenance Schedule). Recently, the engine light of my 2013 X3 came on and I used a basic scanner tool called ******* to identify the code P0015, which indicated a solenoid valve maintenance issue. I deleted the code and made an appointment at *** San Diego. However, another code P0172 appeared, which is a minor issue and may be connected to P0015. I explained this to the mechanic at the appointment and left the car for inspection. The next day, the mechanic called me and claimed to have found an oil leak from the vacuum pump, which will cost me nearly 3K to fix. I was skeptical as the mechanic didn't find anything the previous day and couldn't provide any evidence for his claim. Despite my efforts to clarify the situation, the mechanic continued to make baseless claims and engage in unprofessional behavior. Overall, I caution others to be wary of such practices and take care in trusting mechanics.BMW of San Diego Response

We don't show this client bringing their vehicle to BMW of San Diego recently. The last time this client brought their 2013 X3 into our service department was on 01/18/2021. I don't show any pending or scheduled appointments for this client. I don't see VIN number information for this complaint that would allow me to confirm with certainty that this vehicle has not been here recently. Perhaps the client took their *** to a different *** dealership? Thank you.

My 2018 *** X1 battery is almost out (and minor axle problem) so called service to schedule under warranty which I thought expires 10/28/22, but when I called 10/21/22 they told me expires 10/18/22. I stated I did not drive this car during pandemic even now, can you still service under warranty pls have service manager to tcontact me but no response and if I schedule for a service check up - at least $259 diagnostic fee. Anyone has any suggestions? And I had 3 different service advisors in past few years they all not there any more.Review from MONICA M

Worst experience buying a Preowned car at *** San Diego, after only 3 weeks my car broke and when I asked they help and they didnt have anytime I looked fir abutted shop because I was ti supposed to know what was wrong I was thinking a battery but when they send me a video of what happened the car inside looks like a trash can and because of that the car broke and what I send the video after trying tj have an answer.. they told that they only inspect what ever they can see, the outside what that means if it looks like a trash can its ok because no body can see it, OMG what a disappointment, I always have *** in high standard that is why their car are so expensive and the service is supposed to be the best be aware is far from the truth dont trust them, after you sign the paper your value is 000 fir them, so sad I still can believe it.Review from Kathleen S

Lacking ethics. I purchased a new 2022 540i, cash sale. Driving home brakes began loud squeal/screech at every stop. Next day, same thing and I called. Wanted to return car. A car with 32 miles shouldn't have brake issues. Brought car in the next day. Service man (****) says those "M" brakes just squeak, they'll "take a look but dont be disappointed if they can't do anything about it". I will be more than disappointed, I have no intention of driving a car that squeaks and screams every time brakes are applied. I dont want the car. Spoke to service director who has a manager drive with me. He says you need to drive it for 500 miles and then sound will probably go away.I talked to the guy that sold it to me. He said he has the exact car and his doesn't do it, but deal directly with ***************. I go home and email ***************. Auto reply on vacation til following week. My email to either void sale or buy back goes to *************. He puts me off till Monday at 2 week **** to meet with a man I think is going to discuss returning car. He is just regional service guy who says "we can replace the pads but I can't guarantee noise won't come back" and refers me to corporate customer service ***** number. I was put off for 12 days. My check cleared, ownership paperwork went through, and now the car had over 300 miles. and the brakes still squeaked I went to *************, explained situation to them and they worked with me to get me into another car with regular brakes. I suffered a significant monetary loss because SanDiego *** wouldn't do the right thing and take back the car within 36 hours that had major brake issue. I just got passed around until that couldn't happen. Im sure that was their intent. they say "we want our customer to be happy" but that's just lip service. Terrible customer service and no consideration for customer.Review from Kim W

This dealership most definitely has a scamming ring going on starting with the ** to the ** (service manager). I own an older *** x5 that I bought at another dealership with an extended warranty. The first problem, because there have been several, was my wheel locks being lost while having service performed. Got a flat tire while out, called tow truck to come and fix, low and behold no wheel lock therefore had to have my car flat bed towed over 20 miles home. After an email formally complaining to the manager, locks were replaced, with a reimbursement of money spent for towing. 2nd encounter, took my car in for service covered under the warranty, while car is being fixed it slips off of lift and damage to passenger side, now needs to go to Penske auto repair shop where it stays for 6 weeks. Finally get the car back, take it back for another service this time "oil leak", in addition to the oil leak repair I have additional cosmetic pierces replaced on the car that prevent water from getting into the engine coils and spark plugs. Pick the car up run it through the car wash, SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS FIXED HAPPENING AGAIN; WATER GETTING INTO MY ENGINE. Why? I just had this problem fixed. They repair again, with more out of pocket charges for me. Take my car there on several another occasion to have another leak repaired, okay it's an older car, UNTIL, I get a service required quote, FOR SERVICES THAT WERE SUPPOSE TO ALREADY HAVE BEEN DONE, AND THEY GOT PAID FOR IT. This dealership makes it a point to find things wrong with your car to charge you on top of your warranty company, if not breaking things on your car to scam customers out of money. I have decided to no longer do business at this dealership and report their unethical business tactics. After several times going to the dealership for repairs for some odd reason all of the fluids in my car are drained. No coolant, no windshield wiper fluid, nothing!!!!!Vindictive and immoral because I complained about their bad service. BEWARE of San Diego *** they are a total rip off. Do not take your car here.Review from Jade K

I brought my brand new M3 that was purchased at another dealership to BMW of San Diego for a tire service. I previously purchased an extended warranty for wheel/tire, which was provided to the service associate at the time of drop off. They did not have the tire in stock, so it had to be ordered. I was given a loaner vehicle and told that once the tire was replaced, I could pick up my vehicle. The next day, the tire was received and the service was performed on my M3. I signed two invoices that were emailed to me indicating the work was performed, and there was a zero balance. I was also informed that the car was ready to be picked up. However, I could not pick up my car until the warranty company submitted payment for the tire. I indicated to them that I needed my own vehicle, and I would be coming to pick the vehicle up since the paperwork I signed indicated the car was ready, and there was a zero balance due from me. I was told that it was their policy to not release customer's cars to them until warranty payments were made. It has been three days and I still do not have my car, because they will not let me pick it up until the warranty company pays. Such a policy was never disclosed to me, and their own paperwork that required signature shows a zero balance. I do not know if it is BMW, or Penske automotive's policy that they are referencing (because I was not informed of the policy until I advised I would come pick up my car), but it is deceptive business practices to hold my property pending payment from a warranty claim that was verified. I would not recommend taking your property there unless you wish to have it unlawfully held for a reason that is beyond your control.
