Online Purchase

I ordered products from the https://mindbarchocolates.com/ website and included an extra payment for overnight shipping, which totaled: $109.99. The transaction asked if using Zelle, instructions would be given after the order was placed. I received a text from 213-801-7482 with information on who to send the Zelle payment to. The phone number given was 872-308-0686 which is listed as named, Alysa Frye. This seemed suspicious but it seems like a small company so I proceeded. After processing the payment through Zelle, I received another text from 213-801-7482 saying the payment was received and shipping details would be emailed soon. I also received confirmation emails. After 3 days I received no packages or shipping details. I texted 213-801-7482 with no reply and emailed with no replies. I used the online chat feature on the contact page (https://mindbarchocolates.com/contact-us/) and chatted with what seemed like a real person, who asked for my order number and said I would receive an email on shipping details in about an hour, this never came. I asked for a refund on my one day shipping charge, then the chat never replied. I opened up another window and chat session, asking status on my order and received a similar response - will send an email. I said I was already told this and then the chat never responded. I asked if this was a scam, also to no response. So, this indeed is a fraudulent organization.

I was searching online for a English Cocker Spaniel breeder. I came across a website and contacted them about a puppy they have listed. I exchanged emails and signed a contract, then paid a $300 deposit. We arranged a pick up date, time, and place. It was an 8+ hour drive from where we live. About 5 days before our trip the breeder asked for more money to process AKC paperwork and transfer of ownership. So after some conversation back and forth, I paid $200 more dollars to him. The day came for our trip and i texted him beforehand to make sure everything was set and good to go. He confirmed. We drove 8+ hours to Crescent City, CA for the puppy pick up. When we arrived at the agreed upon location, we arrived at an empty, for sale house. He text one more time with "let me call and see if anyone is home." And then when we called and texted him, he never replied. We spent $500 for a puppy that never existed from this breeder, plus spent close to $1k for travel, gas, hotels, and food. We thought this was an actual breeder due to his website and good communication, but we were scammed.

Phishing - Home Warranty Scam

They claimed to be with our mortgage company and that we were lapsed in home warranty coverage. We had just switch insurance companies so we thought it was connected. They said they were connected with "finance reverse of America" and that we had to get home warranty but it couldn't be a third party, it had to be thru them. As the first girl stated I was contacted through an application on indeed. A woman contacted me tried to make me feel comfortable and gave me a call for about 2 minutes as she said it probably was AI hindsight. But everything seemed like it could work out in the beginning so I worked I was able to withdraw funds the first couple of days on my 5th day as she stated I had to deposit $1,600 for a joint product order and as I was about to complete my set of orders my last order came in to be another joint product order for $5,000 and when I spoke in the chat everyone seemed like oh that was a big surprise and I'm already looking at it like I just put that much in I borrowed 1,000 from somebody so I could complete the order I'm struggling already I can't afford that even if I had $5,000 I have bills I can't risk it and they're trying to make a deal with me but no matter what the deal is I have to pay in 1700 before I can even see the profit from my funds and has the other girl stated they told me I was going to get a 5-day $800 bonus on the 5th day the bonus was not there and the bonus popped up in the middle of my orders and you're not able to withdraw funds until after you complete asset and I looked on the Better Business Bureau and I typed in their company and exactly what the previous comment said was exactly what happened to me and that point I knew this was definitely a scam no company should expect you to pay out that much and if hers ended up happening exactly the same as mine then that's something within the company that's fraudulent so now I'm going to be out $2,000 because I owe somebody a thousand and I have no way of getting my money back.....

Rental - Bradley Roy Properties Limited

I moved to Kentucky to be near family as I was starting over. I was sent a Facebook link to this property manager, Bradley Roy Properties Limited; about a duplex rental available. I drove by the address several times but only saw the inside through pictures on Facebook. I was instructed to send money thru Venmo to a Peter Massaro for deposit and rent. The last time I venomed money was to a Leslie Tucker. I kept sending more money and finally was going to secure the key to the place Saturday, October 31`, 2026. The guy canceled our meeting at the last minute. I was supposed to start moving in the next day. I showed up at the duplex the next day and there were people apparently living there. When I contacted the guy he stated that one had just been rented out. The number of that duplex was 46. He said he did have another one available on that same street Number 41. I said okay and went to find it only to discover there was no Number 41 anywhere. I contacted him again and told him this needed to be resolved or I wanted my money back. Of course he said they couldn't do that. I had been in contact with my mom. She looked up the person on Google and there was a Facebook option. She chose that and there it was right on the page. She tried later in the day to check it and the page was gone. This happened in Corbin, Ky. I ended up with my mom helping me get a hotel room to stay the night and figure things out the next day. I tried to contact different sheriff departments and Corbin Police and they all sent me to each other. It's complicated. I was staying in Knox County and Corbin happens to be in 2 different counties with this property being at the edge of a third county. After I got all my belongings I drove straight back to Missouri to my mom's house. I am a single mom with 2 kids and no child support. $2000 may not seem like much to many people, but it is a lot that I could not afford to lose.

Employment - NaviForge Freight

AVOID this company and their predatory practice. The "HR rep" will tell you they found you on Indeed.com (or another online employment job board you may have recently been on) and confirm your email and interest in employment via a phone call. They send you a link to send in a picture of your Driver's License to verify you are the person they are speaking to and once you accept employment, they will send you links to set up your dashboard to start tracking and sending packages after verifying contents expected for the shipping tracking number for that package. The "job" is for a Shipment Quality Controller-you receive packages, open the shipping box or envelope, take a picture of the contents, compare to the expected freight on your dashboard for that shipping number and they send a UPS, FedEx, or USPS pre-paid label and you send out the package, send in a picture of the shipping receipt and record that item as sent out. They claim to pay a base rate of $4300.00 after 30 days of doing this job. They offer extra incentives to travel and pick up packages from local shipping stations such as FedEx in a Walgreen's. If you require proof of permission to pick up a package like this, they will email you a picture of a "government issued ID with the customer's name and statement that you are authorized to pick up their package". There will be a variety of Supervisors and Shipping Managers that will maintain contact with you via phone or email to ensure the packages are sent out on time or "address" any issues/questions you may have. Turns out it's a front for stolen merchandise to be moved through a 3rd party: you. They do send out a W4 form and a form to set up direct deposit & expect you to turn it in to receive a paycheck. The first package you will receive is a gold coin worth $4500-this is the "test package" to see if you can follow their directions. After that is shipped out, they will start to send you a wide variety of high priced items: cameras, laptops, Dyson products, jewelry, electronics, high value GPS watches, Apple iPhones, etc. to ship out. Once the police get involved, and they will because turns out people don't like their stolen credit cards used to purchase high value items, and your supervisors are made aware of it, the packages stop coming, your dashboard is shutdown and all communications stop. Conveniently, before any pay out to you.

Phishing - Amazon-branded image claiming an unauthorized $985.99 purchase of an Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, 512GB

On November 3, 2026, I received an unsolicited email displaying the sender name “Amuljp Yasnavi,” with the subject “YAZ MAY YAZ.” It included a Word attachment named “YAZ MAY YAZ.docx.” Inspection of the attachment showed an Amazon-branded image claiming an unauthorized $985.99 purchase of an Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, 512GB, Desert Titanium. It urged me to call 804-277-5536 to cancel the purported order and avoid being charged that day. It labeled that number as toll-free. I suspect this is an Amazon impersonation and callback scam. I did not call, reply, send money, or disclose personal or financial information. I sought assistance to assess the suspicious message. No money was lost. The sender’s actual email address is not visible in the email copy available for this report. The $985.99 is the amount claimed in the suspicious notice, not a verified transaction or actual loss.

Online Purchase - Apollo

I purchased an electronic device that claimed to connect to the internet via satellite, providing free WIFI with no SIM card required, and no carrier fees. What they sent me was a portable WIFI device that does require a SIM card and has to be connected via a cell phone carrier. I contacted them via email and told them I didn't want the device. They told me they would give me a 25% discount to simply keep it. Again, I told them I don't want it, I want the item I ordered. I was told that the item I ordered was no longer available. So, I told them that I wanted to return the item they sent me for a refund. They replied by saying they would give me a 50% discount to keep it Again, I said I didn't want it, and I asked for the address where the device should be sent. I also said that I wanted them to pay for the return shipping since it was their mistake by shipping the wrong item. They told me I was responsible for the return shipping. They also said they would deduct the cost of sending the wrong item from my refund! By paying for both shipping costs, I would get little if anything for a refund. This clearly is a "bait and switch" scam taking place. I do not want the item I was sent, and I can't get a full refund.

Investment - NovaRone

This is a task-related scam, similar to Covraworks.com. Novarone-online.com claims to provide a vague type of mobile advertising service, and promises remote employment performing sets of "tasks," all of which earn a small "profit," (in cryptocurrency), along with a "salary" (also in crypto) paid after completing a set number of tasks. However, some of these tasks require you to deposit additional money (in crypto) to finish the tasks, and be eligible to withdraw your profits and salary. It takes a small ($50 or so) amount of crypto to join the game, and I did receive a salary payout after two days ($150 in crypto), but in order to receive said salary, I had to complete two more sets of tasks the following day, and what do you know, a task showed up demanding I deposit $201 additionally to continue. Had I done that (I did not), I still had another 50+ tasks to go (a task involves clicking two buttons on a screen, so it's unclear what actual "work" the company provides for its "customers"), and the "please add more money to continue" tasks show up roughly once every 17-50 tasks, so potentially it would cost another $600 (or more?) to receive my "salary," my initial stake, and all those other payments back. In theory, that is. I was not willing to risk it.

Credit Cards - CitiBank Impostor

I received a phone call from someone claiming to represent Citibank. The caller stated that my credit card ending in 8802 had been used to purchase illegal firearms from gunsofamerica.com for $3,517.00 and that I had two hours to report the transaction to the FBI. I immediately recognized it as a scam, but I decided to play along. The caller eventually transferred me to a supposed FBI office in New York. However, the fake FBI agent became increasingly frustrated with my questions and eventually hung up on me. I must admit, it was quite entertaining! Interestingly, the caller ID displayed the **actual Citibank phone number**. I later called that number myself and was able to access my credit card information through Citibank's legitimate automated system. However, that was the only legitimate part of the entire interaction. **Be aware that scammers can spoof legitimate phone numbers to make their calls appear credible.** Just because a caller ID displays a legitimate bank or government agency's number does not mean the call is authentic.

On September 12th I had asked for a refund because I became suspicious with not getting any tracking information. I was then told that my order was already shipped and provided with a tracking number on 9/14. On 10/16 I sent an email with a screen shot stating my order was delivered, but I never received anything. I was then told that they would only partially refund me, or they would send a replacement. I demanded for my money back due to this being a suspicious transaction. On 10/17 I was told that they had processed my refund. On 10/23 I had sent an email stating that I still do not have any refunds pending in my account. On 11/3 I was told that I will need to wait longer for my refund due to a high number of refund request. Upon further investigation this company is not operating under the email address associated with the business name, but rather a totally different foreign website operated out on China.

Online Purchase - Unlock Car Stereo

I entered my vehicle’s vin number and security code to have a “database” lookup my cars code to unlock my audio system. It generated a code that I was required to purchase before they would send it to me. I paid with my debit card and was then sent a receipt to my email. A moment later I was sent a code which was fake and after entering the fake code into my audio system I was locked out from my audio system. After another search online I found a review website stating several other people were scammed by the same company. They received my vehicles information and my banking information. The service I paid for wasn’t provided and I was scammed out of $19.99.

Employment

I received a job offer from Heritage Hospitality Management. They offered the job to me and said they were going to send me equipment free of charge to start up my home office. They said I would make $22 an hour during training and $30 plus after training for the job. The first red flag to me was sending me all this equipment and I didn't have to pay for it. So I called the BBB to check on them. They are a scam. I want to warn others about them.
