I was contacted by individuals claiming to represent Aequilibrium Inc. regarding a remote Account Executive position. The initial recruitment email came from [email protected] and identified the recruiter as Ava Hall, Talent Acquisition Specialist. I was instructed to schedule an interview with an individual identifying herself as Dr. Grace Wilson, Hiring Manager, through Microsoft Teams. I completed the interview process through Microsoft Teams and subsequently received an employment offer letter using Aequilibrium's name and branding. The offer stated that I would be paid $55 per hour, or $2,200 per 40-hour week. During the Teams conversation, I was also told that the Account Executive position had a 50/50 base/variable compensation structure, 10% commission on new ARR, and quota accelerators. As part of what I believed was a legitimate employment onboarding process, I provided sensitive personal information, including a copy of my government-issued ID, my Social Security number, home address, and a completed W-4. I did not provide banking information or send any money. I later discovered significant inconsistencies indicating that the individuals contacting me may be impersonating the legitimate Aequilibrium company. Most notably, the recruitment communications came from [email protected] rather than an Aequilibrium corporate email domain. The employment offer also contained unfinished template language in the benefits section, and the compensation information in the written offer did not match the commission structure communicated through Microsoft Teams. I am reporting this because my personal identifying information was obtained through what appears to be a fraudulent employment recruitment/onboarding process using Aequilibrium's name. I have since frozen my credit reports with all three major credit bureaus, placed a fraud alert, and obtained an IRS Identity Protection PIN. I have retained the emails, Microsoft Teams communications, and employment offer letter as evidence.

Called me out of the blue claiming to be Chase. Said that I should’ve received a notice on fraudulent transactions (which I didn’t), two of which were $2k and $3k payments to Pedro Martinez (the famous baseball player??) via Zelle. He then proceeded to ask me to add myself as a payee, to which I asked “is this a scam?” I then was threatened by the caller that he would process the transactions as I was asking too many questions, and also asked me to google the phone number, to which I said that phone numbers can be spoofed and that it doesn’t mean anything. He then hung up the phone, probably as I wasn’t about to be scammed. I then phoned Chase who confirmed that nothing was wrong and that it was indeed a scam call.

I contacted the seller through PetzLover about a puppy named Mark. The seller was using the name “Marcel John” and phone number (650) 918-7795. In the messages, the seller presented themselves as a woman and mother of three and said the puppy was vaccinated, microchipped, health tested, and came with medical and bloodline paperwork. The seller repeatedly asked me to send a deposit through Zelle before providing the requested verification. I asked for a live video of the puppy, the full microchip number, and vaccination records, but the seller kept delaying or refusing to provide them before payment. After I contacted the seller, the seller called me from the same number, and the person on the phone was a man, which did not match the identity presented in the messages. I also discovered that this seller has multiple PetzLover listings for different puppies and breeds, which raised additional concerns about whether the animals and information in the ads are legitimate. Because of the inconsistent information, refusal to provide proof, multiple listings, and pressure to send money through Zelle, I believe this was an attempted pet scam. Please investigate this account, phone number, and all related listings to help prevent other buyers from being scammed.

I called found HNM Locksmith via the web. I called to schedule an appointment for a car ignition issue where my key would fully enter the ignition preventing from starting the car. They took down my car location information and name and phone number. They asked about the problem and which I described and said I would need a new car ignition and I asked for a high level quote. They said it would be about 350 dollars. I said sure and set up a time for the service. My interactions with the company and locksmith left me uneasy so I know there are a lot of locksmith scams out there. I did some internet research and HNM Locksmith came up questionable at best. I decided to find a more reputable company that was accredited by the BBB and had an actual physical address. I called HNM back to cancel. Someone who sounded like they were in an Indian call center answered and when I said I would like to cancel an appointment with you guys, they asked why I told them I was going with someone else. They said OK and hung up. They didn't even ask my name. Perhaps they had an automated system and knew the number I was calling from and had my information but somehow, I doubt it. I then tried calling the number the technician called from to contact him directly it sent me back to the call center where my cancellation experience repeated itself. Once again, they didn't take down any of my information. I called a third time and explained the situation and said I had called two times before to cancel and stated nobody took any of my information and do they need that to cancel. They said no its fine and hung up again. We will see if they guy shows up at the time we scheduled the appointment for. Perhaps HNM does provide services. My guess is they will overcharge you and never provide an invoice. Use HNM Locksmith at your own risk.
