On September 2, 2024, my neighbor called a locksmith to re-key her lock. (I'm not sure which company, but on the receipt it says "24/7 Locksmith Services." It was Labor Day, so that's why she found someone who would work on holidays. ) Since the locksmith was at my building and seemed competent, I asked him if he could fix my lock because the deadbolt was not going back into the lock. I was rushing because I had to leave for an appointment, and I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to lock my door. He "fixed" my lock, and asked me if I'd like to keep my old lock, and I said yes. After he left, I noticed he had taken it. I sent pictures of the work he had done to a reputable locksmith, and that locksmith said he did a horrible job and grossly overcharged me ($449). The locksmith (Max) I hired asked me to send the Zelle payment to Energy Locksmith. I later Googled it, and it doesn't exist. Max gave me the alleged phone # for "Energy Locksmith," and when I called, it was dispatch. I complained about Max, and the man I spoke with said he'd call me back. He never did. When I Googled "What company is 818-401-5199," it said the company name is "Sam Lock and Key." I called Max, and he said the company he works for is "TME -- Transfer Multisort Elecktronik " -- an electronic parts and components company in Atlanta, not a locksmith. Thank you for any help with this. I now know that there a lot of shady locksmiths out there, and people should make sure when hiring one to make sure they are hiring someone trustworthy.
