Description

Long story short, I wanted to buy an authentic 1993 World Series Joe Carter Toronto Blue Jays jersey for my dad's 65th birthday. He was at the game Carter hit the home run and has wanted this jersey for 30 years. I found some great ones online by jaysfanatic9/Danny, with whom I conversed mostly through Instagram after seeing his Kijiji and eBay stores. He sent the wrong size and will not answer any of my messages across three different platforms. Since he directed the conversation to Instagram, I cannot review him on that platform or the others (since I didn't purchase on eBay or Kijiji). I'm afraid he'll continue to lure sales conversations to platforms where he can't be reviewed to keep a great rating and take others' money without delivering the goods I found the jersey on eBay initially (https://www.ebay.ca/usr/jaysfanatic9?_pgn=2 - where Danny also encourages looking at his Kijiji store to avoid eBay costs [https://www.kijiji.ca/o-profile/55219873/listings/1]). I sent him an inquiry about the jersey on Kijiji and he invited me to his Instagram account where he had more jerseys. I followed him on Instagram, found the same jersey in a better size, and told him I'd like to order it. He was so fast and helpful at first. The jersey was $625, I sent him the money and he shared the tracking number. The jersey arrived a few days later and it was the wrong size. I messaged him on Instagram about the error and learned he'd blocked me. My girlfriend messaged him mentioning I was trying to get a hold of him, and he blocked her too. He hasn't responded to any of my messages on Kijiji or eBay. The scam has layers. 1) he sent me the wrong item and has cut off communications. Sending the wrong item happens and can be fixed; cutting off communication with a customer is suspicious. 2) Because the transaction happened on Instagram, I cannot review this buyer on Kijiji or eBay and warn others of his business tactics. How many times has he done this before? How many other victims can't warn others? His eBay reviews show he's clearly been a great businessperson in the past so what's going on recently?
