I called Eversource customer service @800-286-2000 to request a change back to Standard Service Rate. A man answered and identified as Eversource, told me that I was a selected caller and was to be issued a free gift of a prepaid credit card or a dining card of some sort. Told him I wasn't interested in anything free, just wanted to change my electric supplier. He kept insisting and asked my name and address and mentioned my cell phone # as the correct contact. Long story short, he mentioned the prepaid card could be used ant many retail stores, etc. He asked how I would pay the fee of $4.95 associated with the issue of the free card that I would receive in a few days. I told him forget the whole thing. He said he could connect me with a rep to help me with my account. Gave me a bogus phone # (213-555-1212) that I didn't call. I went online and typed the # in, It had nothing to do with Eversource. After 5 or 10 minutes passed I called the 800-286-2000 and this time was greeted by an Eversource rep who helped me change my electric supplier. I'm sure glad that I didn't give this guy my CC # even though he assured me that all my info was perfectly safe and why would I loose out on the free gift card over a small service fee or whatever. I am convinced he was a scam artist.
