Received a letter in the mail from "Change Healthcare" claiming that they had a security breach where my personal information was leaked. They offered 2 years of free credit monitoring through "IDX Credit and Identity Monitoring Services" if I call their 800 number and provide my Social Security Number. They also referenced legitimate resources such as the FTC and the 3 credit score companies (Equifax, Experian, Transunion) to appear more credible. I had a feeling it was a scam and thankfully did not contact them before doing an internet search first. I've never heard of Change Healthcare, they don't have a phone number, email address, street address, or any other standard information, and the letter was very generic other than using my full name. I already have credit monitoring services and I know exactly who my healthcare providers are, so I was pretty sure this was an elaborate scam. After a quick online search, i discovered my hunch was correct.
