Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

We contacted fraudulent “dog breeder” through their Facebook post and paid $1140 for puppy and transport costs 2 weeks ago. Then we paid $413 for supplies that were to come with the puppy. Today was the “transport day”. We paid another $1600 (supposed “fully refundable”) for the air transport crate then another $750 for shots “required by the transport vet” at the airport —also supposedly “fully refundable “. When they then went on to ask for $2500 for “insurance “ we belatedly realized we were being scammed. We insisted on a live phone conversation with the supposed breeder, with whom up until now we had only communicated by email. She was incoherent and couldn’t state her last name and hung up on us. Now the supposed transport company has sent an email threatening legal repercussions for “abandoning the puppy” if we don’t pay more.
