Description

I received about 5 calls in a row from an 800 number. I finally answered and she identified herself as calling from Bank of America. She said she was investigating possible fraud on my credit card. Someone charged $1,200 for electronics from a state I do not live in. She seemed to know a lot of my information & said they would deny the charge. Then she said she was transferring me to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a government agency that would protect me from fraud. He also had a lot of my information (he knew how much I owed on my credit cards). Although he did seek information, when I became suspicious he assured me that he was working for the Federal government & that's why he knew so much about my credit cards. He then told me about Accelerated Debt Settlement. They convinced me they could save me a lot of money. I haven't signed anything, but now I'm frightened because I gave them information that could lead to my being scammed.
