My son's boss told him about a lady that called his place of employment (he assumed his boss knew the lady personally) and said she was trying to give away her husband's piano because he had passed and she was moving back to France. She said she had stored it with Metrolite Logistic, and he could have it if he would pay to have it moved. She said her husband was very passionate about music and she wanted to give it to someone who shared those feelings. My son is a musician, and I offered to pay the shipping for him. I even checked out the website of the company and it looks legit, but I think the scammers have just cloned their name and address. I wired the money for the shipping and they advised that they would contact me when the piano had been shipped. I thought everything was good until they sent me a follow-up email saying that due to the cost of the instrument, I needed to purchase additional insurance before it could be shipped. I replied that I was on a fixed income and could not afford to pay $750 more for shipping insurance, and I would just have to rely on them to transport it safely. No response. That is when I knew they were scammers. I have the account and routing number where the money was wired from my bank.
