Description

I applied for a job advertisement on indeed.com as a Shipping Coordinator in November 2023. The ad stated that I would be able to work from home, competitive pay rate and 4 weeks paid vacation. I was contacted via email by the HR department manager Maria Wilson. I had completed a questionnaire and had completed some documents during the hiring process. I was not required to provide any personal information except my address. No social number was requested. After the hiring process I was contacted by a Supervisor Alex Wozniak via phone (this was the only one time contact directly). I was explained my duties, expectations, scheduling, pay rate, vacation time and requirements for the job. I was told I would be on a 30-day probationary period and would receive my first paycheque of $3000.00 after this period via cheque in the mail. Then going forward my pay would be biweekly. I was given his contact information, email and phone number. I was later then provided to a link for a program called Task Control System. This would help organize packages received and complete notes and provided pictures of the parcels to be uploaded. There was also a commission-based program where if you complete the task quickly and ship out within 24hrs you would receive additional bonuses. This was a great incentive for me to complete my tasks efficiently with additional income. I was very happy and excited to be able to work from home. During the 30-day probationary period, I received 8 parcels. I reached out to my supervisor near the end of the month via text, asking about my paycheck. He advised me I would receive it on November 27th by mail. After a few days, I reached out again via text with no response. I also called my supervisor directly but with no answer. The phone would ring once then make a funny sound (not a fax line). I also emailed the HR department manager but with no response as well. I was very disappointed that this could be a possible scam.
