Description
I called a toll free number I thought was Allegiant Airlines. I found the number on a Google search. My wife had received an email indicating we needed to adjust our flight. The phone was answered "Allegiant Airlines" and after I descried the email, they told me I needed to pay extra. It later turned out: the people that I called weren't even Allegiant Airlines - they were scam artists using a bogus phone number. They did have access to travel agency info, however, and made use of a booking number I gave them. They confirmed the email on record without me giving it to them. It looks like my credit card company will back me up and reverse the charge - but I need to document the whole thing and provide additional info later, so the outcome is not guaranteed. The phone number I called was 1 888 454 4706 - scam artists somehow tinkering with an old toll free number. During this experience they emailed my wife from "[email protected]" and also "[email protected]" - but everybody that I interacted with at this scam office had a thick east Indian accent. I expect they are based in India, but their email from "Travel Unravel" showed the Little Neck, NY address. I also received a call from these criminals from 1-929-222-8116, a New York number...
