Description

I filled out the Student Loan Forgiveness application through Federal Aid and filled out my email and phone number. Was told I may receive a call for approval. I received a call from Ian Esguerra representing Xcel Consulting Services saying my debt relief has been approved. They had all my Student Loan information and who my loans are through. Ian said I was approved for half of the amount to be forgiven through a graduate program and sent me emails and documents to sign. They said I would pay $199.80 for the first 5 months and then $99.00 for 85 months and then the rest of my loans would be washed. I provided them my checking account information to begin the payments. They asked for paystubs from my employer which I provided as well. My SSN was blacked out on those. After speaking with my loan provider, Mohela, they say it was a scam due to the Debt Cancelation program being held up in court with the Biden/Harris administration. They said the only calls I would receive are from Federal Student Aid or Mohela (my loan provider) themselves if/when the debt relief is approved.
