I saw a report on CTV last night about The A Team Appliance Repair, and realized I was being scammed. I had their tech come to our place to look at an outdoor warming drawer. I was quoted just over $ 100 for the service call. After about 30 minutes, the tech told me the problem was the main circuit board, and the cost is $1743.47. I was astonished at the price. He gave me a bill for $ 333.35, and I did not think to question him. I gave him a debit card. So I called Viking in the US and found out there was no such part for my model. There are only four parts for the drawer with a total cost of all four of about $ 400 US. So I called the A team, and was told that the tech must have made a mistake. They would send a more senior tech the next day at no cost. After he did the inspection, I was told it was the heating element, and they would call me with a price. After a few days they did, and said the part was 451.55 plus tax, and I gave them a credit card for 50% of the cost of the part. After seeing the CTV expose last night I called them today to cancel. I was told that I would get a refund of only $ 150 of the $ 255 I gave them. Some nonsense about a restocking fee. So I guess I'm gullible to be conned this way. I hope my report saves others from the same scam.
