Description
I received an unsolicited postal mailer dated September 8, 2026 from “Motor Vehicle Services” concerning a 2024 Nissan Altima. It listed Nissan of Thousand Oaks as the “Suggested Service Location” and used “IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUESTED,” “FINAL ATTEMPT TO NOTIFY YOU,” and a seven-day deadline. It included a check-like “Allocated Waiver $199.00.” The fine print states that the waiver can be redeemed only by activating new coverage, that the sender is not affiliated with the dealership or manufacturer, and that it is not a check. The mailer gave no legal company name, mailing address, website, provider or administrator identity, license number, existing contract number, coverage terms, or actual warranty expiration date. The only contact information was 1-888-***-3196. I did not call the number, provide information, or pay money. The official-looking design and urgency appeared intended to pressure the recipient into calling to purchase a third-party vehicle service contract.
