Description
I received 2 text messages stating I had a past due balance on my health plan. I called the number (218-607-1649) and they stated they were collecting a past due bill for my BCBS insurance. The representative told me that at the beginning of the year the Big Beautiful Bill changed insurance company billing to pay in full and then bill the patient directly for any denied claims. She stated I had a past due balance of $394 something and would be sent to collections as the text message was my final notice of failed payment. She said she they are BCBS and I was on a recorded line. She sent me a link through text to docusign and when I questioned the legitimacy she stated she was going to take my concerns as a refusal of payment, document that, and that I would be sent to collections. The link I was sent was https://myplanassistance.com/srt_url/9g0k5. I ended the call prior to submitting any payment, but did give them my card number as I really believed there had been a change to the policy. I then called BCBS of NE and BCBS Highmark to verify the outstanding balance and both companies stated they would not handle claims that way. I also canceled my card prior to any charges being made.
