Description
On 08/30/2026 I signed up for what appeared to be one week's worth of video viewing access on the moblie app platform for DramaBox. Instead, the company placed me into a hidden, recurring weekly subscription of $16.19 billed under the credit card descriptor "DramaboxC". The merchant is using illegal 'dark patterns' and clear violations of the Restore Online Shoppers' Confidence Act (ROSCA) by actively denying and withholding consumer cancellation mechanisms. When logging into my profile via a mobile web browser and their native iOS application, the company explicitly displays my status as 'Auto-Renewing' but has completely removed and stripped out the 'Cancel Subscription' buttons from the user interface. Concurrently, the interface makes it effortless to upgrade to a more expensive annual plan. Because the company forces users onto a guest ID session through mobile web funnel pages and omits any functional mechanisms to opt-out or turn off auto-renewal, I am trapped in a forced billing cycle. I have sent a written demand revoking billing authorization to their support email, but due to their intenionally obstructive layout, I was forced to contact my credit card issuer (Capital One) to place a permanent back-end merchant block on my card to protect my account.
