Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I applied for a trademark on Friday through USPTO. After receiving two scam text messages of Friday (ignored), I received an official looking email from someone claiming to be the assigned examining attorney Zachary Cromer. It said they scheduled a required verification appointment at 9:30 am that morning. It said the Required Verification Components of the call would be: Owner's Verification, Business Information Verification, Prescribed Obligation(s) and Conflict or Infringement Review. That email was received Sunday night at 8:36 pm. USPTO specifically warned of scammers asking people to act quickly, so I knew it was a scam. That email had writing in red with a list of 5 Critical: Appointment Compliance Requirements. It also asked for Acknowledgement Required once received. I did not call the number.
