Description

While on Facebook, an ad for Clarity Blue glasses popped up. I had been working on a project and my eyes were blurring. The glasses seemed to be just what I needed at the time. I had seen the ad before. Unfortunately, it was not until after I received the fake glasses that I checked the reviews. I should have checked and will from now on. This is the email I sent them the same day the glasses arrived. "I received my glasses today. They do not do anything. When I move my glasses over text, as in your website demo, the text does not change and when I go out in the sunlight, they do not darken. They also appear to have a blotchy yellow tint, not the bluish tint in your ad. What is the problem? How do I get a refund?" They responded with, "Hi D----, Thank you for your email. We're sorry to hear that you want to return your order. We want to save you the trouble of returning the order and paying the return shipping fees. Therefore, we are here to help you with your return and refund process. In order to initiate the refund, we will require you to return the product. But as an alternative, we offer a discount to-keep option, where you can receive a 50% refund and keep the product, or even donate the product. We can immediately refund $19.99, which will show on your statement typically within 3-5 business days. How does that sound? We look forward to hearing back from you. Please let us know if you have additional questions or concerns. Armando Gray Clarity Blue Glasses Phone: +1 (866) 489-6102" My response, "I paid $63.39. You're offering to refund less than a third of what I paid. The product is lightweight and small. It will not cost me over $40 to return it. The post office is less than 4 miles from my house, so it's not that much of a hassle. I was really looking forward to using the glasses as you advertised. Although you are being helpful, I am truly disappointed. Please provide me with a return shipping label to attach to a padded envelope so I can return the glasses for a full refund." Their response, "Thank you for your email. We're sorry to hear that you're still considering a return. To make things easier for you and avoid the hassle and cost of sending the item back, we'd like to offer you a refund option without requiring the product to be returned. With your approval, we can issue a refund of $33.99 directly to your original payment method. This amount will typically appear on your statement within 3–5 business days. Note: There is a standard 15% restocking fee applied to all returns, which is already factored into the refund amount offered. Please let us know if we may proceed with this option for you." My response, "I paid $63.39. 15% of that is $9.51. $63.39 less $9.51 equals $53.88. If you can refund the amounts you are offering, you can refund $53.88. Considering you sent me an item that was not what you advertised, why would you restock it? You are providing a product that is not what you advertised and then scamming people by offering much less than what they paid for it. Therefore, you are fraudulently making money by not providing full refunds, if any. Please refund $53.88. If you don't want these fake glasses, I understand, but I want my money, either way." They have responded by starting the cycle over again with an offer of $19.99. They said the restocking fee is something they charge on all returns. Their website does say they will charge that. It also says, "If you are not completely satisfied with your Clarity Blue Glasses – we are offering you a 30-days guarantee on all purchases. Simply send the item(s) back to us for a refund or replacement, less shipping & handling." The site also says, "We don’t guarantee that we will receive your returned item."
