Description
I was contacted regarding a purported job opportunity claiming to be associated with Holman (Holman Automotive / Holman Enterprises). The communication did not come from Holman’s official domain, but instead used the email domain @holmanhires.com, which I later learned was a newly registered domain and not affiliated with the legitimate company. The individual claimed to be a recruiter and referenced a real job title that does exist on LinkedIn, which initially made the outreach appear legitimate. However, I was informed that I would be sent a check to purchase work-from-home equipment, which raised concerns. Further investigation revealed multiple red flags: The email domain holmanhires.com was newly registered and privately masked. The phone number used, (718) 496-7362, appears in scam reports related to employment fraud. Legitimate Holman job postings direct applicants through LinkedIn and the company’s official Workday system and do not involve sending checks for equipment purchases. I did not deposit or receive any funds, but I had shared a copy of my ID before realizing the scam. No banking, SSN, or financial information was provided. I am reporting this to help prevent others from being misled, as the scam impersonates a real company and a real job posting to appear credible.
