I received a notice in the mail from a home warranty called Reliant Home Warranty. I wanted to see how much it might cost and what was all covered. The representative gave me a 3 yr deluxe warranty which I would have to put $195.00 down and $258.72/mo for 18 months and the other 18 months free. Sounds good but the price still expensive. So he has transferred me to a finance manager and he said to just pay the down payment and then if anything needs repaired get it done and then cancel the plan. I couldn’t afford any of it at the moment at their rate, so I asked if I could call back in a few months to get some of my own finances straightened out first and to offer me a warranty later on once I can afford to. He told me no and that he would have to “red flag” my house if I don’t take the warranty coverage! I said no I’ll pass goodbye! That is terrible and very predatory sales tactics.
