Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I recently formed my first business, an LLC, and received a "Safety Manual Order Form" through the post office requesting $295.00 for a safety manual required by OSHA for businesses. The form was sent by "C.P.S., a third-party entity", which promised to "prepare and provide a comprehensive written safety manual" to meet OSHA standards. The form then laid out the SEVERE fines and penalties for not having the "proper" safety manual, including fines "up to $70,000 per violation", and then went into detail how to avoid these fines by sending a check for $295.00 with the completed form, or paying online at "www.paysafety.org".
