Scam information

This content is based on victim and potential victim accounts. Government agencies and legitimate business names and phone numbers are often used by scam artists to take advantage of people.

Description

I signed up for an online IQ test through MyIQ.com that was presented as a free or low-cost trial. The terms of the free trial and the automatic subscription charges were not clearly disclosed at the time of sign-up. After completing the test, my Venmo account was charged without clear authorization or sufficient notice that I was being enrolled in a recurring subscription. When I attempted to cancel through the MyIQ website, there was no clear or functional way to do so. I was forced to contact customer support by email to request cancellation. In their written response, customer support acknowledged that the free trial terms were unclear and confirmed they could cancel my subscription, but they refused to issue a refund, stating that the terms I agreed to did not qualify for one. I believe this company uses misleading free trial advertising and makes cancellation intentionally difficult, which may affect many consumers.
